Project Finish This Stuff - January 2016

Long time, no blogging.  This has been a super crazy year.  I thought that to try to get me blogging again, at least somewhat, is to dig into my Project Finish bags and write up the coordinating mini reviews.  Wish me luck on remembering how I liked products from the very beginning of the year.  I suppose that if I don't remember loving something, then it wasn't that special.

CeraVe Therapeutic Hand Cream.  I remember this being a decent hand cream, but I found one I like better - and is cheaper! - so I won't repurchase.
Garnier Clean + Makeup Removing Lotion Cleanser, Sensitive Skin.  I got this hoping it would be a replacement to a Clinique product I used to use (and was discontinued).  I didn't like this nearly as well.  I remember it not being as effective in getting my makeup off.  Won't repurchase.
Origins High-Potency Night-A-Mins, foil packet.  Wasn't impressed with this.  If I remember correctly, it didn't provide enough moisture for my dry winter skin.  Won't purchase.
NeoStrata Bionic Eye Cream, foil packet from dermatologist.  I don't remember anything about this eye cream so...won't purchase.
Lancome Advanced Genifique, deluxe sample.  I've gone through several large bottles as well as deluxe bottles and even foil packets.  When I first started using it, I felt that I was seeing results with my skin evening out.  But after using it so much, I felt that it stopped working so I give it a break after each bottle or group of foil packets I use.  I'm currently on a break from it, but I still have more in my backups.  Not sure if I would repurchase or not.
Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes, deluxe sample (7 count).  I think this pack might have come in a sample box.  I don't remember liking these so won't repurchase.
Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation Facial Moisturizer, deluxe sample.  I believe that I liked using this moisturizer at night time.  I remember my skin feeling well-moisturized.  I'd be interested in trying more so I might purchase at some point.
Fresh Rose Hydrating Eye Gel Cream, foil packet.  I  must have liked this one a lot since I drew a smiley face on the back of it when it was finished.  It's supposed to provide 30 hours of continuous moisture.  I would be interested in getting another sample whenever I journey up to Sephora again. Might purchase after sampling again to ensure that I don't get milia (many eye creams cause that on me).
2 Origins GinZing Energy-boosting Moisturizer, foil packets.  I wasn't impressed with this moisturizer, just like the Night-a-Mins version.  Won't purchase.
AmorePacific Moisture Bound Rejuvenating Creme, foil packet.  It claims: antioxidant-rich creme improves firmness and hydration; reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles for radiant, youthful skin; and for all skin types seeking to delay or repair signs of premature skin aging.  There wasn't nearly enough product in the packet to see if any of the claims might be accurate.  For the price, I'm not interested in purchasing.
Dove Color Care Shampoo with Vibrant Color Lock.  I've gone through several of these shampoos over time and I do enjoy it.  I've gone through other shampoos over the year and right now my absolute favorite of the moment is the one that's in my shower right now.  Might repurchase at some point.
Mac Prolong Waterproof Foundation, NW20 (I think that's what this pot was).  I don't remember being impressed with this.  Won't purchase.  I might try (or retry) the Pro Long Wear concealer at some point.
E.L.F. High Definition Undereye Setting Powder.  My Holy Grail - I'm always repurchasing this.  I wish it came in a bigger container.  Always repurchase.
Lancome Definicils Mascara, Black, deluxe sample.  I enjoy using this mascara each time I crack open one of my sample tubes - I might even have a full size that came in a kit at some point.  Probably wouldn't individually purchase since drugstore mascaras usually work pretty well for me, but if it comes in another kit I purchase I'd definitely use it.

Trashed but Not Finished items:
2 Revlon PhotoReady Sculpting Blush Palettes, 004 Berry & 001 Pink.  I depotted the highlighters and decided to trash the blushes and bronzers since I felt that they were no good.  I've decided I'm better off not buying Revlon products since there are hardly any products in the entire range that I like.  Won't repurchase (also, discontinued).
Philosophy The Supernatural You Make Me Blush Mineral Blush Duo, Sunny/Bright (purchased from Big Lots several years ago).  I felt that both the blush and bronzer were so hard pressed in the pan that it was stupid to keep it in my collection and not worth attempting to pass on to anyone.  Won't repurchase (also, discontinued).
Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick, 245 Blushing Brunette.  This lipstick has expired.  The smell is off and the texture is different from all the others I have when I swatched it on my hand.  I do like the shade, but I've so many lip products that I don't know that I'd repurchase.
E.L.F. $1 Lipstick, Classy.  Broke way down at the base of the bullet where it goes into the plastic.  I don't think the color is quite right for me so won't repurchase.
Sally Hansen Natural Butter Lip Shimmer, Essence.  This lip balm has also expired.  It's a lot harder than others to apply and it smells off.  Won't repurchase.
Hard Candy Lash Tinsel Glitter Mascara.  Super old and dried out.  I believe it was included in a kit.  Glitter mascara is really not "my thing" so won't repurchase.
Hand Sanitizer, Strawberry scent.  This has turned into pure water consistency.  Won't repurchase.

Glancing through all my mini reviews, it seems like I wasn't off to a good start on finishing products I like.  Only 5-6 of my finishes are might or will repurchase compared to 17 of the won't repurchase.  Oh well.  At least now I know.

  1. That is a really good step by you Sarah. It is good to make sure that your products are finished before they expire so that they won't go to waste.
