National Lipstick Day - March through July Lip Wardrobe

Hi!
**purchased / g.w.p.

I was on Instagram earlier this morning, like nearly every day, and came across a couple of posts that proclaimed today as National Lipstick Day.  I figured what better time than today to do a second installment of my "lip wardrobe."
I've worn quite a lot of different lippies over the last 4 months, and several of them were repeated numerous times.  I was good at using both high end brands as well as drugstore.  Swatches are after the names.
Tarte LipSurgence Lip Tint Sweet, CoverGirl Queen Jumbo Gloss Balm Q805
Laura Geller Love Me Dew Moisturizing Lip Crayon Lychee Glace
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Adore, Honey, Smitten
Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm Voluptuous Violet

Sally Hansen Natural Butter Lip Shimmer Bliss
Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate (matte) 109 and (regular) 37
Physician's Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting I <3 Rose
Hard Candy Plumping Serum Infamous
Too Face Melted Melted Berry and Melted Fuchsia

Revlon Lip Butter Wild Watermelon, Cherry Tart, Raspberry Pie, Juicy Papaya
Revlon Colorburst Carnation
E.L.F. Moisturizing Cheeky (packaging broken but still using)

Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids Infra-Red and Pop of Cherry (both l.e.)
Maybelline Colorsensational Nude Nuances (used on top of other lipsticks)
Wet 'n Wild Sunset Peach
Wet 'n Wild MegaShield Salsa Lessons, That's Berry Beautiful, Lolly Popstar

Cargo Dubai and Paris, Lancome Pink to the Club (shimmer)
Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cassis and Coral
Urban Decay Revolution (minis) Rapture and Jilted
Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstasy 305

Marvelous Moxie Birthday Suit and Maverick, Burt's Bees Zesty Red
E.L.F. Hypershine Flirt, Benefit Bella Bamba, Almay Cantaloupe Cream
Lancome Juicy Tube Simmer, Rimmel Stay Glossy Endless Summer
Rimmel Moisture Renew SOS Red and Berry Bliss

The lipsticks I repeated most often were from Giorgio Armani, E.L.F., Hard Candy, and Rimmel.  The Armani and E.L.F. lipsticks are both ones that I am trying to use up since the packaging on the E.L.F. is broke (have to disassemble to roll the bullet up to use) and the Armani is broken off low in the tube so I have to give the bullet a little tap to get it to fall back in.  I think that as far as the Armani is concerned, the heat may have gotten to it enough to soften to the point of breaking even though I don't roll my lipsticks up much when applying.  The Sally Hansen lip shimmer is also on my list of lippies to use up just because that is on the older side and sheer enough that I use quite a few swipes each time I put it on.  I really don't use glosses nearly as often as lipsticks so maybe I should go through those and clean out some more glosses (plus most of my glosses are getting pretty old).

I'm happy that now that I've shared my March through July Lip Wardrobe, I can put all of these products back in my lip drawer so I see all lipsticks/glosses when picking out what I want to wear when needed instead of just grabbing what's in the pink plastic organizer (or in my purse - I think about 8 of these were in there!).  Besides all of these lipsticks and glosses, there were also days I just threw on some Jack Black Lip Balm or Fresh Sugar lip balm (clear) and called it a day.

Do you repeat lip products often or do you wear different ones every single day?

Sunday Stash Sharing - Dots & J Nail Lacquer

Hi!
**purchased

I've got a few polishes from when the Dots stores were in existence to share for part of today's Sunday Stash Sharing.  I've also got a couple of "J Nail Lacquer" polishes to share.  These 2 brands have been living with my Color Club and Funky Fingers polishes, but after today's post I think I'll be moving them to a different drawer due to the space that Color Club and Funky Fingers are taking.

Dots used to sell polishes that were originally made by Forsythe (C.C. makers), but then changed over to Blue Cross.  To see my other Dots polishes, click here.
Jazzy Blues, Fuchsia Glitter, Ice Blue, Ceramic Blue
Jazzy Blue has scattered silver holo shimmer in a royal blue base.  Fuchsia Glitter has fuchsia and lilac purple shiny hex glitters along with shiny silver hex and square glitters.  Ice Blue and Ceramic Blue are both basic creme polishes.

The J Nail Lacquers are a pair of polishes that I picked up on our way home from a trip last year.  We randomly stopped at a local beauty supply store and I saw these 2 that seemed original to all that I had.  There were a lot to choose from, but I'm only trying to get original polishes so...
Snow Orange and Snow Purple
Both of these have matte white hex glitter, which is most likely why both have "snow" in their names.  The colors remind me of a set of highlights I used to have.  I should play with these while the brights/neons are technically in season.

Do you have any J Nail Lacquer polishes?  Do you know what beauty supply stores carry them?

Project "Finish This Stuff," part 49 - December 2015

Hi!
**purchased / g.w.p. /
requested sample

I still am way behind on sharing what all I've finished on a month-to-month basis so I figured that today I'd share my December finishes (finally!).  As usual, I'll include mini reviews on things I can remember if I had particular thoughts on them and whether or not I'll purchase/repurchase.  Also, since this is the last of the products I finished in 2015, I'll include some final numbers on how many products, whether full size or sample or trashed, left my collection.
E.L.F. High Definition Undereye Setting Powder - purchased from Walmart.  As I've said many, many times, this is a holy grail product.  I've gone through numberless containers of this and will continue to repurchase.
Amorepacific Moisture Bound Rejuvenating Eye Treatment Gel - requested sample.  I don't really remember anything one way or the other about this sample.  Given how expensive it is ($85), I won't purchase since I know I like the Tarte and Lancome Genefique eye creams.
Simple Micellar Cleansing Water - requested sample.  I remember not being particularly impressed by this cleansing water.  I don't think my skin quite liked this.  Won't purchase since I do like the Garnier version and don't experience any skin irritation.
Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 - Sephora birthday gift from a few years ago.  I really enjoyed using this and liked the color it provided my lips - a pretty rosey pink.  The one negative about it is how soft the product is; I had a bit of a hard time using it in the summer since it got very soft and would try to break off (I kept smooshing the broken part back upright).  I might purchase at some point since I liked the color and that it has SPF, but I won't be in any rush because of the price.
Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Eye Cream - requested sample.  I had a hard time getting through this sample since, to me, it's a very heavy eye cream.  I had to be careful to use the tiniest amount or else I would get milia.  I did like how nourishing it felt during the winter weather when my skin was on the dry side, but I was always worried about clogged pores in my under eyes.  Won't purchase.
Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Capsules Daily Youth Restoring Serum - requested sample & g.w.p.  I liked how my skin felt after using these each night BUT I had a hard time with the smell of the capsules (not the best).  On the plus side, one capsule was enough for my entire face even when my skin was on the dry side due to the cold weather.  Won't purchase because of the smell.
EOS lipbalm in Honeysuckle - purchased.  This was alright.  But I think I'm over EOS in favor of finding something more moisturizing.  The shape also makes it impractical for taking with me so I only use these at night.  Won't repurchase (I still have about a half dozen to work my way through in backup land).  Side note - this one I didn't actually finish since it was looking gross around the screw-top part.
Nail Bliss Pro WonderBond brush on gel glue - purchased from Sally's Beauty Supply.  This glue was decent, it just got thick and stringy so it was time for a replacement.  Might repurchase (I think I ended up with a different brand when I bought my replacement).
Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm SPF 25 - purchased from Sephora.  I love this BB cream! For me, it has more coverage than a lot of my foundations.  It has just the right amount of moisture for me and I can use it in any season.  It also matches my skin pretty perfectly even though when you squirt some out it looks gray-based.  If it had a higher SPF I'd be even happier but I have already repurchased.  Tip:  If you do get this, towards the end of the tube it gets hard to pump out so I unscrew the pump and the black part of the tube actually splits open to get at the white inner tube.  I ended up slicing the white tube open to get all the product out since I love it so much.
Mary Kay Energizing Foot and Leg Treatment - given to me by my mom.  I'm not sure what the original texture of this lotion is supposed to be (this is old-old) but I thought it was really on the thin/runny side.  The peppermint scent was definitely invigorating on my feet but it wasn't a rich enough lotion for winter feet.  I prefer thicker/creamier lotions for my feet so I won't purchase.

These last 2 items are both things that I just could not get myself to finish, so they just got Trashed.
Dove Energy Glow Beauty Body Lotion - purchased.  This "lotion with subtle self-tanners" did do what it claimed, I just felt like it took way too long to dry down to where I didn't feel like everything was going to stick to my legs.  This bottle was on the older side so maybe that was part of it; I don't remember if when I first started using it if I had that issue or not.  I did like that I didn't really have to worry about streakiness like I do on the rare occasion I use an actual self-tanner.  I'll probably look for a similar product from a different brand.  Probably won't repurchase.
Nivea Express Hydration Freshening Gel for Normal to Dry Skin - purchased.  I barely used any of this "lotion" since from day 1 I didn't like it.  I felt like it didn't provide enough moisture and, again, left my legs feeling sticky for a long time.  I was also hesitant to use this on my legs after shaving since it has mint extract in it.  Big fail.  I couldn't even get the Mister to use it.  Won't repurchase.

2015 Foil-Packet Samples finished:  49
2015 Deluxe Samples & Full Sized Products finished:  125
2015 Trashed but Not Finished:  75
2015 Miscellaneous Trash (i.e. tools): 2

GRAND TOTAL:   251 products out of my collection during 2015

I am super impressed with that total!!  I know a big chunk of that count is from the Trashed but Not Finished category since I cleaned out my lip products.  It just popped into my head that I actually had a lot more products leave my beauty stash because I re-homed a decent sized box (about half the size of a paper box) amount of makeup, skin care and hair care.  When I think about it even more, I think I did that twice last year. OMG that is a lot of products leaving my stash.  Do I miss any of it?  No - I don't even remember what all was in either of those boxes.

Now that I finally have my 2015 finishes caught up, it's time to get started on posting my 2016 finishes!  It's never ending, isn't it?

Wet 'n Wild Pop! Back to School Polish Collection - Swatches

Hi!
**purchased

I felt like getting a polish post up before it became irrelevant - which happened with the Spring polish collection I purchased.  So today, I've got the Wet 'n Wild Pop! Back to School polish collection.  I can't believe that this collection that's currently available at Rite Aid (not sure about Walgreens/CVS/KMart) is targeted for the "back to school" season and I got these at the beginning of July.  I got mine on sale (40% off again).  I included bonus swatches of the Lost in the Wild Flowers polish collection since I didn't get a dedicated post up.
Also included in the display are 2 styles of eyelashes and 6 shades of lip gloss - none of which I got.

These have a special finish of Candy Gloss Nail Tint, a.k.a. jelly polishes.  I love that they are labeled that way as well as the special imaging on the cap that indicates these are all 1 collection.
Floral Support, Edie in Pink, A Case of Blue, One Grape or Another

Swatch time, plus a bonus play session.  For most accurate colors, check out my real nails - the swatch wheel colors were really not cooperating for accurateness.  (Maybe I shouldn't do swatch pictures at night when there's no natural light to balance out the light box - might help with quality)

The next wheel has the Spring collection that I had missed posting (I figured it was too late now for a dedicated post).  All of the swatches, except for Wild Wild Violet being 3 coats, are 2 coats.
Lost in the Wild Flowers: Poppy Culture, Cherry Blossom on Top, Leaf Me Be, Wild Wild Violet
Pop! Back to School: Floral Support, Edie in Pink, A Case of Blue, One Grape or Another
Floral Support, Edie in Pink, A Case of Blue, One Grape or Another
These are all shown at 2 coats.

I thought that while I was swatching these polishes for the blog, I'd play around with the "Candy Gloss Nail Tint" description by pulling out my bottle of OPI Snow Globetrotter.  I've got 2 coats of each polish under a single coat of Snow Globetrotter and topped off with a single, thin coat of the appropriate Wet 'n Wild polish.
~same polish order as above~

I think the Candy Gloss Nail Tints are fun polishes to play around with, and this time it's not a surprise when the polishes are sheer on the 1st and 2nd coat.  I really appreciate that there wasn't a green in this collection since I feel like I have other "unmarketed" jelly polishes in green from WnW.   Of these 4 polishes, Floral Support and One Grape or Another are the most sheer and Edie in Pink is the most pigmented (one coat of this equaled 2 of Floral Support).  A Case of Blue is just behind Edie in Pink in pigmentation.  I am a little curious as to how a couple of these compare to the Zoya jelly polishes (I believe there's a trio of shades).  They all dried quickly and decently shiny, but would benefit from a glossy top coat.

Are you planning on picking up any of the Wet 'n Wild Pop! Back to School polish collection?  Do you like jelly finish polishes?

Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Palette - Swatches & 1st Impressions

Hi!
**purchased

I'm a bit late sharing this purchase (got it in April), but it is still available (unlike another palette that I had picked up more recently).  I picked up the Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass palette.  I love the colors that U.D. puts out in its larger palettes (such as all the versions of the Vice palettes) so, needless to say, I was drawn to pick up this one.  I got mine at Ulta, but it's also available at Sephora and, of course, Urban Decay.  I actually redeemed my Ulta reward points to pay for the bulk of the price of the palette, which is currently $60 - plus I had an email coupon for a freebie Ulta brand mascara with purchase.  I ended up getting a bargain that day.
The packaging is a bit bulky, reminiscent of the old Book of Shadows palette
The upper "layer" has a hidden 3D butterfly underneath doors that say "I'm not strange, weird, off, nor crazy, my reality is just different from yours."
The pull out drawer containing the shadows say "I know who I was when I got up this morning, but I must have changed several times since then."
The mirror says "We're all mad here"
Swatch time!  As usual, I did not use primer or anything to intensify the swatches.  Some of the swatches have been built up.
1st column: Looking Glass, Reflection, Dormouse, Metamorphosis
I think I built up Looking Glass and Reflection (nearly my skin tone)
2nd column: Hatter, Gone Mad, Paradox, Cake
I believe all one swipe
3rd column: Lily, Duchess, Kingdom, Chessboard
I believe all one swipe
4th column: Heads will Roll, Bandersnatch, Salazen Grum, Royal Flush
I believe all one swipe (Bandersnatch was very heavy handed)
5th column: Time, Dream On, Chronosphere, Mirror
I believe all one swipe, but Dream On is one that does need built/used on a sticky base

Dream On is probably the weakest shadow out of the palette, basically looking just like a glitter topper.  Bandersnatch is also weak on initial swatch, but it can be built up.  Lily and Duchess both have a bit of a duochrome finish to them.  Looking Glass (pigmentation is weaker but can be built), Reflection and Chessboard are the only truly matte shades - Bandersnatch swatches matte but there is a tiny bit of shimmer in the pan, with others having a matte base but a bit of shimmer or glitter added (Metamorphosis, Hatter, Heads will Roll, Doormouse, Cake).  There are quite a few metallic shades: Paradox, Kingdom, Salazen Grum, Chronosphere, and Time.  Royal Flush is metallic, but a bit drier/chunkier and not as pigmented as the other metallics.  Mirror is a "soft metallic" - not nearly as intense as Time.  Gone Mad I would describe as just a medium-deep purple with multi-colored shimmer; just lightly blending my swatch with my finger made it almost disappear so definitely needs a sticky base and some careful technique to get it to not disappear on the eye.

For some reason this year in the Spring and now into the Summer, I haven't been very inclined to put much, if any, eye shadow on.  Partly due to time constraints and partly due to my eyes being unusually irritable so any pretty shadow and liner work gets ruined.  I do hope that as I get healthier and hopefully my allergies get under better control I will be able to play with this palette (and all my other pretties) much more.

When I have taken the time to do a complete eye look, lately it's been on the more neutral side with a pop of color - typically a green, blue or turquoise - on the lower lash line.  Of course, while I'm writing out this post, Paradox is really jumping out at me since I discovered earlier this year that I like the way that orangey-rusty colors look against my blue-green eyes.  One of these days I'll be able to play in my makeup again....

Did you pick up the Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass palette?  Are you interested in getting it?  Waiting for it to go on sale eventually?

Sunday Stash Sharing - New Rules of Engagement & Frostbite

Hi!
**purchased

Wow, it's been forever since I've had time to sit down in front of the computer for any length of time.  There's been a mass of yard work happening at our home, plus I've had a lot on my calendar for being away from the house nearly every day, and I'm also one of the many unlucky who got a summer cold (plus sinus troubles + allergies).  I know that earlier this year, I had mentioned that I would post when I had time and not feel guilty for more posts...but lately it's been in the back of my head that I need to try to get back into the blogging frame of mind.  So I thought that I'd start dipping my toes back into blogging by starting off with a Sunday Stash Sharing of a few Color Club polishes.

Late last year, I came across a Color Club display in the local supply shop with a Winter/Holiday theme called Frostbite.
What a Flake

What a Flake has matte black and white small and medium matte hex glitters with shiny silver medium hex glitters in a clear base.

These last 2 (and the last of my Color Club collection, as of now) are from a currently available collection called New Rules of Engagement for Spring 2016.
Pinspiration and Plus One
I included 2 bottle shots of Plus One since there's a pretty color shift in the shimmers.  Pinspiration is composed of matte baby blue hex glitters and loads of gold micro glitters in a clear base.

I'm so behind on swatching polishes on nail wheels that none of today's polishes have been swatched yet, let alone put on my nails.  I've actually rarely had my nails painted over the last few months since I had been doing so much cooking for larger groups of people (lots of entertaining) as well as yard work that it's been pointless to try to keep polish on.  Add to all that the aforementioned summer cold/sinus/allergies and doing my nails just hasn't worked out.  (Tissues and wet polish do not get along.)  All that hasn't kept me from buying polishes, just from wearing the polishes.

If you'd like to see any of these polishes on my nails, or at least a swatch wheel, let me know and I'll do my best!
