Project "Finish This Stuff" Update, part 48 - November 2015

Hi!
**purchased / requested
sample / g.w.p.

I'm slowly approaching the end of my 2015 empties!!  But as I was taking pictures for today's post...I just remembered I think I finished 3 or 4 things additional things back in September when we were on our cruise.  I remember taking a picture of the empties then tossing them in the trash so I didn't have to pack them back into the suitcase.  Oops.  Oh well.  I'm pretty sure I also just recently trashed a couple of things that were nearly full, but super old, in the trash.  I believe those were items that I never ever tried.  Again, oh well.

On to today's update!  I've got hair, skincare and makeup as well as a couple of Trashed items.
Suave Black Raspberry + White Tea Color Care Conditioner - purchased.  I've gone through multiple bottles of this conditioner.  I still love the way it smells and how my hair feels after each use.  I'll probably repurchase once I get through backstock of other conditioners.
L'Oreal Color Vibrancy Nourishing Shampoo (x2) - purchased from Walmart.  Nope.  I did not like this shampoo.  I had gotten it for the cruise but only used one of them a couple of times since I had another travel shampoo with me that I used at the beginning of the trip.  I ended up using these up between large shampoo bottle purchases.  I felt like this L'Oreal shampoo left my hair feeling dry and needing a super rich conditioner.  I don't have time for shampoos that leave my hair feeling that way.  Won't repurchase.
Philosphy Miracle Worker Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinoid Eye Repair - requested sample.  I really enjoyed this eye cream.  It felt plenty moisturizing without causing any milia in my under-eye area.  But I don't feel like I saw any changes in the darkness of circles.  Probably won't purchase - I want results(!).
Dermalogica Super Sensitive Shield SPF 30 (UltraCalming) - sample from Ulta/Dermalogica.  This was a nice daytime SPF moisturizer.  Right now, I don't remember how strong the scent is, which is a major factor in deciding what to purchase for skincare that will be near my eyes (I want that SPF as close as possible).  I also don't remember how moisturizing this was.  I'm undecided on if I'll purchase or not - I need to go to Ulta and play with it again.
Acure Seriously Firming Facial Serum - purchased from Raisin Rack (local store).  I really enjoyed this serum.  It claims to reduce fine lines + imperfections, fades scars.  Obviously I purchased it for the "fades scars" claim.  I used this all over my face, plus I remember packing this for the cruise.  In that setting, I also used it on the sunburn I accidentally got (oops - the SPF wasn't applied evenly) and also used it over a healing injury on my leg.  I do want to purchase this again to see if I notice results since I forgot to really pay attention last time.
L'Oreal Silky Sheer Lotion 30 - attached to another L'Oreal product I had purchased.  As I was typing the name, it seemed familiar; I had finished the spray version in October.  The scent is on the strong side for me to really enjoy on the face, but it did absorb well.  I thought it was a bit moisturizing but absorbed quickly, leaving no sticky feeling.  It claims to have antioxidant with the UVA/UVB protection.  Even though the scent is a little more than I care for, I'm tempted to purchase again for wearing at home during the summer for outside yard work.
Murad Acne Spot Treatment 3.0% Sulfur Acne Treatment - purchased from Ulta (right as it was being discontinued).  I really liked this spot treatment.  Of course, I really liked it since it got discontinued for the sulfur formula.  Murad changed the spot treatment to benzoyl peroxide, which I cannot use.  I wish I could repurchase, but I can't so I am on the hunt for a good daytime sulfur-based acne treatment.
random Vitamin E balm - I've got a bunch of these in backstock.  I pull one out after I go through 1-2 regular lip balms for something a little different.  I feel like they are getting on the older side and not as effective of a lip moisturizer as it once was.  Won't repurchase.
Equate Sensitive Skin Wet Cleansing Cloths (compare to Olay Sensitive Wet Cleansing Towlettes) - purchased from Walmart.  I think that these cleansing cloths did a decent job at removing my makeup, even on heavier makeup days.  I don't remember the scent or the texture bothering me.  I feel like all of the towlettes had enough moisture through the entire package.  I might repurchase for traveling, but right now I'm enjoying using the oil-cleansing method as the first step in the double cleanse method.
Rimmel Scandaleyes Thick & Thin Eyeliner (waterproof) - purchased.  I actually have a full review here that you can visit for more info on how much and why I did not like this eye liner.  Won't repurchase.
Wet 'n Wild Brow Pencil in Blond Moments - purchased from Walmart.  I really enjoyed this brow pencil (clearly, since it's just a nub).  When I got it, I thought I had grabbed a different color but it turns out that Blond Moments was just the right color for me.  I did feel like the pencil went fast since it is pretty soft, but at the price point, I don't really mind.  Already repurchased, but I've been using other brow products in the meantime.
Wet 'n Wild ColorIcon Eye Shadow Single in Brulee - purchased.  This is the perfect skintone shade for me to use to set my eye primer.  I've gone through at least one other of these and it is my preferred shadow for that use.  Right now, I'm using other shadows in a similar shade but I prefer WnW Brulee.  Will repurchase once more similar shadows are used up.
CoverGirl & Olay Simply Ageless Eye Corrector - purchased.  I really enjoyed using this yellow-based eye corrector.  I enjoyed the "Olay swirl" since my under eyes can tend to look a little dry.  I feel like the yellow shade really helps to cancel out my under eye circles that lean more purple than blue.  This has, unfortunately, been discontinued but I do have a backup that I just recently cracked open.  I am trying to get better about not holding onto products without using them, especially ones that have been discontinued.

These last 2 items are in the Trashed, but Not Finished category.
Wet 'n Wild MegaProtein mascara - I think this came packaged with something else I purchased.  I really did not like this mascara at all.  It was way too wet when I opened it and did nothing for my lashes.  I even pumped the wand in and out every day and didn't screw the lid back down and still after a month it was too wet for my preference.  I felt like it didn't do anything for my lashes at all.  I also didn't like the wand style, which is a natural bristle spiral that was extremely spread out.  I gave up on this mascara ever drying out to be usable.  I actually just opened it to look at the wand and it is still wet and goopy.  Won't repurchase.
L'Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Eyeliner - purchased.  I never showed this on the blog in a haul.  I got this when I was searching for a good waterproof eyeliner, whether liquid or gel.  I did not like this liner.  While it is black, it dries to a shiny black.  It dried into one of those strips that is kind of stretchy and I'm fairly certain I remember seeing it lift off my lid.  I also hated the way that it came off using my trusty CVS dual-phase eye makeup remover.  It would come off in chunks that would get into my eyes.  No thank you.    The only things that I liked were the applicator - a flexible felt tip - and how black the formula is.  It was waterproof, as long as there wasn't any rubbing involved.  Won't repurchase - I couldn't even get through one tube.

That wraps up my November Empties and Trashed items.  I'm getting closer and closer to being caught up.  Yay!!

Do you have a favorite matte black & waterproof eyeliner that doesn't chunk up when taking it off?  Inquiring mind here...

Spotted, Hauled & Swatched - Wet 'n Wild 2016 Spring Into the Wild Polishes

Hi!
**purchased

Since today started off feeling so Spring-y this morning, I thought it was perfectly fitting to share some quick swatches of the Wet 'n Wild Spring Into the Wild polish collection.  Since the collection has been out so long by now (I spotted mine at the end of February - oops) I just went for really quick post.
I've spotted this at both Walgreens and Rite Aid (purchased from Walgeens); it was still listed for purchase on Wet 'n Wild's site when I did my eyeshadow & highlighter post last week.  I've only been to one CVS recently and there was essentially no spring/summer limited edition displays, nor the room for any.  I haven't been to KMart recently to see if this collection ended up there or not.
Kiss My Mints, Love Fest, Lay Out in Lavender, Breeze on By

My swatches are 2 coats each over Duri Rejuvacote, no top coat.  The colors in the bottles are more color-accurate below.

Love Fest could have technically had 3 coats to cover VNL (visible nail line) that was visible in person, but it wasn't really bothering me.  Kiss My Mints had the best coverage on the first coat - the 2nd coat was really just to smooth out some minor ridges trying to show from my nail itself.

Even though I didn't get the manicures photographed before the inevitable chipping set in, I have worn Lay Out in Lavender with a couple of Orly glitters.  I've also worn Breeze on By with a newer FingerPaints glitter.  Both looks wore pretty well, but I did have glitter over nearly all of my nails for both manicures.  I did make notes so I could eventually recreate the looks if I want to do my nails but don't have inspiration.

I do feel like the colors are similar to ones released last year.  If you want to be reminded of what last year's 2 collections look like, click here to go to a post comparing the Silver Lake Collection to the California Dreaming Collection.  Hopefully for spring 2017, Wet 'n Wild gets a bit more creative in their color choices...

Did you pick up any of the Wet 'n Wild Spring Into the Wild limited edition polishes?  Are you still wearing pastel spring colors or have you already moved onto bright summer colors?

Sunday Stash Sharing - Funky Fingers Neon Glitters

Hi!
**purchased

I've got the last of my Funky Fingers polishes to share today.  I'm 99% sure this post finishes off the drawer that Funky Fingers and Color Club resides in (but I will double check while I'm thinking about it).  I haven't decided what brand to move onto for the next installment, yet.  Anyway...let's see some neon glitters!
These 3 polishes are dupes of Color Club polishes from the Poptastic Remix collection.
Alex's Lemonade, Unicorn Farts
Finally, I have one lonely Fresh Paint polish, also sold at Five Below.

I haven't really spotted any fun new glitters at Five Below lately, but maybe that's better for the budget...  Actually, I haven't doing much polish shopping at all lately (other than seeking out and grabbing the Spring & Summer Wet 'n Wild limited edition collections).  While I was finishing up this post, I just thought of doing L.A. Colors polishes that I've gotten from Dollar Tree next since that's not a huge collection.  It still might be a couple of posts.

Do you  have a favorite glitter from Five Below that I'm missing from my stash?

Spotted, Hauled & Swatched - Wet 'n Wild 2016 Spring Into the Wild Collection

Hi!
**purchased

Lately I've been seeing previews of the upcoming summer limited edition Wet 'n Wild collection - with news of it being spotted in some Walgreens already - so I figured I better get my spring collection posted.  So today I'll be sharing my swatches and thoughts on the eyeshadow palettes and geometric highlighting palettes from the Spring into the Wild collection.  I do have the polishes, but I haven't swatched them yet for the blog.  There are quite a few pictures, so let's get started!
Something new for this year is that the collection is available FOR PURCHASE on Wet 'n Wild's website (click here for the collection)!!  I purchased everything from Walgreens (below displays) , but I've also seen the collection available at Rite Aid (above).  As fun as they eye liners look (white, pastel blue and pink) I have, so far, not purchased them.  I do have a white gel liner already (hopefully it's still good), but the blue looks like a pretty shade - that one might come home with me.  I can't see myself wearing the pink, however.

Starting off with the eye shadow trios:
The New Romantics and To In-Di-O I Go Go

As per usual, I did not have any lotion or primer on my hand prior to swatching.
The New Romantics
I figured that even if I did not find myself using these for eye shadows, the cream and pink shades would possibly work for highlighters as well.  These 3 swatches are 1 swipe each(!).
To In-Di-O I Go Go
Once again, the creamy "browbone" shade could also be used as a facial highlighter if I wanted.  I left the purple at one swipe and you can see it's not quite as impactful as the other shadows.  I do see how well these 2 eye shadow trios coordinate with the Pantone colors of the year.  I hope I'll get to wear the shadows soon as I've been having allergy eyes lately and my eyes will randomly start watering for an hour or more.  I got myself a bottle of 24-hour allergy control pills and found my eye drops for itchy/allergy eyes so hopefully I'm good to go for playing with my makeup more.

Moving on to the geometric highlighting palettes,
Where the Dreamers Go, Sun Ceremony, Desert Explorations
Where the Dreamers Go
This highlighting powder is the one of the 3 that I have not used yet.  I wasn't that impressed by the swatch, either, so that might be why I haven't reached for it.  In some ways, I feel like this is more of a winter-y color since it is so light and pastel.  I think I just need to grab a brush and put this on, even if before I wash my face for the night so I can get a little idea of how it might look.
Sun Ceremony
Sun Ceremony is a pretty golden highlighter.  I have used this once (maybe twice) and I do like it.  I think it's comparable to the WnW Fergie highlighter in Hollywood Boulevard - just a toned down version.  I'm not sure what the new name of Hollywood Boulevard is since it's been repackaged without the Fergie association...
Desert Explorations
Desert Explorations gives a pretty champagne-pink look to the skin.  This is actually the one I have reached for the most of the 3.  I've typically used a fan brush (Real Techniques) and swirl it all around and then apply on the tops of my cheekbones and sometimes a little over my brows.  If I'm feeling "fancy" I'll put a little dab of it on my cupid's bow.  I'm not into the highlighter on my nose - at all.

As I mentioned, I have used a couple of the geometric highlighters and enjoyed them.  I like that the highlighters give a nice glow with just a shimmer/sheen - no chunky glitters to be seen.  If I wanted more of a glittery look, I could grab one of the eye shadow colors.  I just need to play with the rest of the collection.  Of course, I really want to get my hands on the summer highlighters since they look super pretty.  I feel like this year, so far, I've been more about getting a pretty, even and artfully glow-y complexion more than playing with eyeshadows.  But a big part of that is probably allergy issues.  That doesn't keep my from buying more eyeshadows, though!!

Sunday Stash Sharing - Funky Fingers Multi-Colored Glitters

Hi!
**purchased

It's been quite a while since I've done a Sunday Stash Sharing post (or any post, really), but I've had these polishes pulled for weeks just waiting for their turn on the blog.  I got my camera battery charged up the other day and got busy taking pictures.  Yay...but I'm out of practice for getting the label shots.  I just gotta get back in the groove.  My last Sunday Stash post was on Valentine-inspired glitters from Funky Fingers.  Since I'm still not done with my stash of Funky Fingers, let's jump back into the drawer and explore some more.  I managed to find links to a couple of posts that have 2 of the glitters swatched or used in a mani.

Today's first group is in the purple family:
Teen Spirit, As If, Triple Dog Dare Ya
As If contains matte silver stars

Now for a true, multi-colored duo of glitters:
Pep Rally, So Fetch!
So Fetch has matte bright blue stars

And the last polishes for tonight are blue-glitter combos:
Varsity Blue, Rollin' With My Homies

I really need to get back into doing my nails more, especially more than just slapping a single color on and going.  But given how much time I'm spending in the kitchen cooking for large groups, nail polish has been very low on the priority list.  I should get a break from that in about 3 months...  I even just shortened all my nails to nubbin-territory since I'm still having an unfortunate amount of peelies along with a couple of actual breaks.  All I know is I need to be getting a better usage out of my Polish World, but it's time will come.

I have one more post for Funky Fingers polishes then I get to pick a new brand to share.

Do you ever get into a pattern of just not painting your nails, despite how large your stash might be?

Project "Finish This Stuff" Update, part 47 - October 2015

Hi!
**purchased / requested sample /
g.w.p. / Influenster

It's been another eventful couple of weeks, which has been making me either not be home to blog or not in the mood to blog.  But on the other hand, I've got a line of "empties" bags taunting me in my office.  So I decided that I'd get up the next update.  Eventually I'll get caught up...I hope.

Not pictured is a candle that I finally burned through - it only took me 7+ years...not even exaggerating.  So let's see what all I finished in the month of October.  First up is skin, hair and tooth care.
CVS Oil Free Makeup Remover (compare to Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover) - this is my go-to eye makeup remover.  When I'm extra tired I even use this to begin removing my face makeup before following up with micellar water.  I have repurchased - but am almost out of my replacement - so I need to repurchase again.
L'Oreal Advanced Suncare Alcohol-Free Quick Dry Sheer Finish Spray 30 - purchased from Walgreens.  I did like this spray sunscreen pretty well.  It dried quickly, and it didn't make my skin look greasy.  It does claim to be water resistant.  The one down-fall is the scent.  I might repurchase since it did dry to a powder finish (especially helpful when doing yardwork so debris doesn't stick to sticky sunscreen).
Artist's Choice 6 inch cotton applicators - purchased from local supply shop.  These are my favorite for applying skincare like the Kate Somerville EradiKate acne treatment or Mario Badescu Drying Lotion.  I find that the regular cotton-buds are a little to short to really get to the bottom of the bottles without getting the product on my fingers.  I also feel like the make-up of these is different enough that it applies those products a little better as well.  Maybe that's just my imagination.  All I know is, I prefer these 6-inch applicators to the regulars and have already repurchased.
Suave Color Care Black Raspberry + White Tea Shampoo - purchased from Walmart.  I really love the way that this shampoo smells.  I feel like it doesn't really strip my color, even when freshly done.  Since I get my hair colored red, that's important.  My hair also feels really nice and silky using this (even moreso with the conditioner).  I'll probably repurchase once I get through more backstock of product.
Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Moisturizer Oil Free - 2 samples from Sephora.  I wasn't impressed with this moisturizer.  I remember feeling like it didn't provide enough moisture to my skin, especially if I had used an intensive cleanser.  Won't purchase.
Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Premiere Intense Moisture and Renewal Activation Cream - gift with purchase deluxe sample.  There is sunscreen in the cream but this was too heavy for my skin - if I didn't set it well with powder it was likely to slowly migrate into my eyes.  I also didn't care for the scent.  Won't purchase.
Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital Night High Potency Night Moisturizing Cream - gift with purchase deluxe sample.  I could use this in the cooler months since it is targeted for normal to dry skin, but it's a little too rich for my skin the rest of the year, or if I did use it in warmer months, it was only a pea-sized drop for targeted use.  This has the typical Lancome rose scent, which I'm not the fondest of.  I'll use the samples that I have (&/or get in the future) but I wouldn't purchase on its own.
Arm & Hammer PeroxiCare Healthy Gums Baking Soda & Peroxide toothpaste - purchased.  I really liked this toothpaste.  The flavor wasn't so intense that it caused my eyes to water or my teeth to be sensitive to cold.  I also liked how much easier it was to get nearly every drop out of the tube, which I struggle with when using some of the Crest tubes.  While I do try to get whitening formulas, I might repurchase this as healthy gums are just as, if not more, important than whitening.

I did have some makeup empties!!
L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Powder in N1 Soft Ivory - purchased from Rite Aid.  I felt like this was a better color match than the previous compact (in the cool color family) of this powder I finished long ago.  However, I still don't think the powder itself is super impressive.  It's nice, but I wasn't wowed by it.  I probably won't repurchase.
E.L.F. High Definition Undereye Setting Powder - purchased from Walmart.  Need I go on about this powder?  Depending on how often I'm doing my makeup, I'm going through one of these every 1 to 2 months.  Once I start working on the replacement, I pick up a new one at Walmart even though I've barely gotten through any product.  I can't be without.  I actually need to pick up another backup soon - I just opened the last of my backstock and I don't think there's one in my travel kit I can steal.  Always repurchase.
NYC Smooth Skin Loose Face Powder in Translucent - purchased from Rite Aid.  I really enjoyed this loose powder.  It set my face well without looking cakey. I'm a fan of using a puff to press product into my skin to make sure my foundation/BB cream/CC cream is well set and I dust some onto my neck with a fluffy brush.  Once I'm done with my neck, I use the same brush to knock off any excess powder from my face, only brushing downward (darn peach fuzz).  There's no scent to speak of for this powder.  Once I get through some powder backstock, I'll repurchase.
CoverGirl Intensify Me! Liquid Liner in Intense Black - Influenster sample.  This is at the bottom of my liquid liner list as one of my least liked liners...ever.  I did a full review of this liner in May and considered the liner finished in October, whether it was actually finished or not.  As I was typing out my thoughts on this liner again, I was playing with it and noticed that the cap doesn't even click on tight.  When I think of how long my Lancome liner lasted...the CoverGirl sucks.  Would not purchase.
CoverGirl The Super Sizer - Influenster sample.  This mascara started off as not working for me, at all, but by the time I decided it had been open plenty long enough for it to be discarded...I actually liked it then.  This is quite wet when you first open it, which does not work for me at all.  I think after it had been open for 1 to 1 1/2 months, I started liking it more since it had dried out.  But since it took so long for it to be a "like" I won't purchase just for that reason.  I want to like my mascaras pretty much the first time I use them.

I believe in October I was beginning to work on cleaning up my office in preparation to move rooms, which meant that nail products that had completely dried out on me ended up in the "Trashed But Not Finished" category.
Pro FX Fiberized Ridge Filler Base Coat - purchased from Walmart.  I really liked this ridge filler.  I managed to make my way through at least 2/3 of the bottle before it got so thick and goopy it made application nearly impossible.  I had also used enough of the product that it was hard to load the brush with enough product to do one nail in a single dip.  I thought about thinning it a bunch, but in the meantime I ended up just purchasing a new bottle to make my life easier.  When I repurchased, I ended up with the "salon sized" bottle at 2.5 fl. oz; the used one had 1 fl. oz.  If you're curious, there's no DBP or Toluene in the formula.
Nail Art by Diamond Cosmetics (dark blue & opal glitter) and L.A. Colors Art Deco (gold glitter & baby pink) striper polishes - purchased from Dollar Tree.  Again, I thought about reviving these, but when I thought about how much I had used these - maybe once for either the gold or crystal - I decided it wasn't worth the effort.  I have the same or similar colors in regular polish bottles which I could use a nail art brush with when needed.  I still have more stripers from both brands, but these 4 are the ones that dried out/evaporated.  Won't repurchase since I probably wouldn't use them.
Maybelline Eye Studio Blackest Black Gel/Creme Liner - purchased from Walmart.  This liner completely dried out on me, and based on how long I knew it had been in my collection...it was time to go.  I got about half way through the jar.  I like this liner for both upper liner (wing, regular) as well as applying in my lower water line (I would dip a pencil liner in the gel and apply it to my lower water line).  I remembered this lasting through super humid and hot 90+ degree days, plus staying in my waterline with little to no touch up needed (maybe just some inner corner cleanup) so I decided to repurchase this to take on our cruise.  The old one just didn't land in the empties until after.  I've used 2 other brands of gel liner in the meantime and have noticed that neither are quite as long lasting/water resistant as the Maybelline.  The Maybelline is marketed as waterproof and smudge proof.

October was a decent month for finishes, especially when I think of how little was finished in September.  I always have to remind myself that whether I finish a little or a lot, anything getting finished is progress in slowly thinning the stash.  And that is the ultimate goal.

What's your favorite waterproof eye liner?  Is it gel/creme, liquid, pencil?
