Project "Finish This Stuff" Update, Part 41 - April 2015

**purchased / g.w.p. /
 requested sample

It's time for the next installment of Project Finish!  This month, there's a ton of stuff in the "Trashed, but Not Finished" category since this is about when I got serious about cleaning out some of my makeup stash.  I hit up the lipgloss section first, and let me tell you...lots of victims.

As for finishes, I've got products in all categories - skin care, makeup, hair care, body care... so let's get started.
Lancome Advanced Genifique - purchased from Dillards or Macy's.  I've repurchased this multiple times as I had better results with this than the Elizabeth Arden I tried a long time ago.  BUT I've tried other serums from different lines in the meantime and...we'll see.  I have repurchased but haven't opened the bottle yet as I'm working through older products.
Kiehl's Clearly Corrective Daily Exfoliant - sample from Nordstrom's.  I really liked this exfoliator.  It wasn't too harsh but it was more effective than others I've tried.  I'd consider purchasing, especially if I wasn't doing microdermabrasion as regularly as I am.
Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Daily Serum - gift with purchase from Dillards or Macy's.  OMG!!  I really was impressed with this serum!  I felt like I had noticeable results with this, especially as I worked my way through multiple samples of it (those will be in another post).  I am strongly considering purchasing this after I get through older stock.  What's holding me back? The price - well over $100 a bottle.  Ouch.
Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion + - gift with purchase from Dillards or Macy's.  My skin liked this lotion in the winter at night.  And for a few days earlier this month, I had some random really dry areas that this helped (I have the very last of this tube plus a bit from another decanted into a screw-top sample jar that I took when traveling).  I probably won't specifically purchase, but I'm not adverse to using it when the need arises.
Burt's Bees Radiance Lotion SPF 15 - sample I believe was in a Target Beauty Box (back when they were actually free).  Nothing that great about the lotion.  I used it on a cloudy day around home for a little protection.  Won't purchase.
Kiehl's Cucumber Herbal Alcohol-Free Toner - sample from Nordstrom's.  I didn't notice anything special about this toner, other than the lack of alcohol.  It's better to stay away from alcohol in toner, but I didn't feel like this actually did anything.  Won't purchase.
Makeup Removing Wipe - random hotel travel toiletry perk.  It worked, nothing special.  I didn't have irritation.  Can't purchase.
Neutrogena Mineral Sheers concealer/powder duo.  I finally completely finished this duo!  I had finished the concealer portion months ago (probably last year), but was still working on the powder for quite a while.  I mentioned way back in 2013 that I couldn't wait for this to be done, but I was referencing the concealer more than the powder.  I liked the powder pretty well, but since it's discontinued I've done well replacing it with the E.L.F. undereye HD setting powder.
Neutrogena Healthy Volume mascara (might be a deluxe mini?) - I didn't find anything special about this mascara.  Won't repurchase.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation sample (shade 4.0) - I mixed this in with a foundation that's currently a bit too light.  I do have the full size of this foundation in 3.5 and am most of the way through it.  I have more of these sample pods that I intend to use in the same way so that they aren't being wasted.  Will repurchase (in the appropriate shade).
Urban Decay Naked Skin Illuminating Beauty Balm (SPF 20) - purchased from Ulta.  I really liked this BB balm, which I mostly treated like it was a primer.  It does have some shimmer...almost glitter...but under foundation it blends nicely.  I might repurchase in the fall, I just wish it has a higher SPF.
Dr. Jart + Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm (Broad Spectrum SPF 25) - I really enjoyed this BB cream.  In fact, so much that I purchased it a few months ago and have already made a dent in it.  I find that while it applies slightly dewy, given enough time it dries down satin-matte, but as usual, I set it with powder to ensure nothing moves on me and blush/bronzer blends well over it.  Plus I can get impatient sometimes (don't we all?).  The one thing that would make this even better is if it had a higher SPF - noticing a theme?
Bic Simply Soleil razors.  Yay! Finally gone!!  It took me forever to convince myself to finish these.  I did a full review on these quite a while ago which you can read here if you like, but long story short, I did not like these at all.  Won't repurchase.
Bath & Body Works Sensual Amber body lotion - travel size, either free with purchase or with coupon.  It was nice, not too strong.  But I won't repurchase since I think that Bath & Body Works is overpriced and over-scented.  I have a bunch of body lotions/creams from them still to work through.
Vaseline Total Moisture dry skin lotion - a long time ago, this was the only lotion I could use on my neck since everything else was making the dry/irritated areas burn.  If that problem ever comes back, I'd repurchase, but for now I'm working my way through my lotion stash.
Paul Mitchell Ultimate Color Repair Shampoo - deluxe trial I got from my hair stylist.  I really liked this shampoo for my color treated and highlighted hair.  It's a very rich, moisturizing shampoo.  I'd consider purchasing a bottle, especially for the first wash or 2 following a hair appointment...and wintertime dryness.  Side note - my mom tried this out and did not like it, but her hair doesn't get the bleach abuse from highlighting like mine does - she merely colors.
It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product - gift with purchase from Ulta.  I really like this leave-in and could tell when I wasn't using it in my hair.  Once I get through a few more hair products in my stash, I'll eventually purchase.
Crest 3D White Luxe Sensitive toothpaste - again with the sensitive teeth!  I'll probably repurchase this the next time my teeth turn to the sensitive side.  I just wished it whitened better...

A few base samples got used up (or used mostly then dried out the rest of the way)
Cover FX CC cream (P light-medium and N light) -  I had a hard time figuring out which shade I was in the Cover FX line.  I felt like I could wear a couple of the shades.  I would consider purchasing at some point if I could definitively decide on a shade.  I remember liking the coverage it provides.
Peter Thomas Roth CC Cream (light to medium) - some days I like this, others I don't.  I have a deluxe sample I'm working on right now and my last thought on it was it's leaning too much to the orange side...but then I got a bit of color on my upper body so it didn't look as odd - but it's still not right.  I got more use out of it as a foundation primer in the winter when my skin was on the drier side.  I won't purchase as I like other BB/CC creams better.

"Trashed, but Not Finished" is pretty full this month.  I decided not to include shade names and individual reviews since there's so much going out all at once.  I did make a notation as to whether or not I'd consider repurchasing in the future.
Tazorac cream (prescription retinol) - I used to use this a lot, but got away from it.  This tube has been open so long that I decided it best to trash it (I do have a completely sealed tube I might break out in the winter, working my way back into using it).  Can't repurchase.
2 E.L.F. cream eyeshadows - dried out.  I'm not really into cream shadows in a pot - I have to do a lot of work to get them to not crease on me.  Won't repurchase.
Physicians' Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Eye Enhancing Eyeliner Trio - Nude Eyes, black.  When this was good, I really enjoyed using it in my waterline and had a decent wear time.  I would consider repurchasing...I just wish you could buy a single color instead of a trio.
Random Arabic "herbal kajal" liner ("Hawaiian blue") - the Mister bought this for me when we lived in WV.  I'm tempted to pull it out of the trash and keep it in a separate spot just for sentimental reasons (and uniqueness of product availability)...actually I think I will and put it with my lipstick that I wore on our wedding day...and then clear out something else in it's place.  Can't repurchase.
Wet 'n Wild MegaLast brow serum (never saw any results when I was using it fairly consistently), 4 Wet 'n Wild Speed Gloss, 1 E.L.F. Minty Gloss, 1 Bonne Bell Lip Lites Gloss.  Would not repurchase any of these.  When I did try the various glosses, I didn't care for the texture and/or color on me.
3 Styli-Style glosses (Big Lots purchase), 2 Sally Hansen Lip Butters, 1 Rimmel Sweet Jelly Sheer Lip Gloss, 1 Neutrogena Lip Plush Lipstick, 1 L'Oreal LeGlosse.  Would not repurchase any of these.  The Rimmel and Neutrogena (this was mostly used up) were the 2 oldest lip products in my stash (had in WV and we moved to Ohio 6 years ago).  Styli-Style was too sticky, Sally Hansen and L'Oreal looked unflatteringly milky on my fairly pigmented lips.  I also didn't care for the L'Oreal texture.
Maybelline limited edition gloss, 4 shades of CoverGirl AmazeMint glosses - I would consider repurchasing the CoverGirl glosses again (if still made), but I don't really wear gloss anymore.  I do still have other Maybelline glosses in my drawer, but I won't purchase any more.
6 shades of NYC Liquid Lip Shine - in this formula, I thought these are all too sticky to be comfortable to wear, wouldn't repurchase.  Of this last group, the CoverGirl glosses are the oldest, dating back to our townhouse we moved out of probably 4 years ago and I had them a while before moving.

Do you ever come across a section of your stash that gets completely unloved and needs thoroughly cleaned out?

Project "Finish This Stuff" Update, Part 40 - March 2015

**purchased / g.w.p./
 requested sample

As usual, traveling, no matter how short the trip, really messes with my internal clock/energy level/whatever you want to call it.  And there was some other things that popped up in the meantime that required lots of time and attention.  But, once again, it's trash night today (writing this ahead of time) so I decided it's the best time to get a new Project Finish Update together.

Let's jump back in time to March and see what all got finished.  As I mentioned last Project Update, I decided to stop showing hand soaps as they were finished (unless I have some different thoughts since I do have a couple other scents).  So in addition to all that's pictured, there was another Dial soap.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm (SPF 20) - sample from an UD site order.  This was nice, I'd like it better if the SPF was higher.  It was ever-so-slightly orange if it wasn't well blended out and/or covered with foundation.  I have purchased an UD Beauty Balm (different formula), but I don't think I would purchase the original formula (this one).
Benefit Big Easy Liquid to Powder Cream (SPF 35) - sample from Ulta.  Yay for a higher SPF!!  I just wish it worked better on my skin...  I just didn't care for the way it looked on my skin.  Maybe it was the light coverage (when I was having more redness) and issues with applying liquids over it?  I don't know.  It just wasn't a love.  Maybe if I had better skin.  Won't purchase.
Stila Stay All Day 10-in-1 HD Illuminating Beauty Balm (broad spectrum SPF 30, water resistant) - purchased from Ulta.  I really like this BB cream.  On good skin days, this provides just enough coverage and holds up to my combo skin.  I've worn it outside all day in some pretty warm conditions and it held up and protected my skin perfectly.  Already repurchased.  Oh, it works very well under foundations as a primer.  It does need time to dry down, as does any product, but eventually it looks fairly satin in finish.
E.L.F. High Definition Undereye Setting Powder - purchased from Walmart/Target/Walgreens.  I've gone through several of these and there's no stopping me.  I actually think I have 2 open right now (oops).  I will continue to repurchase, especially at $3(!).
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate - sample, gift with purchase from Nordstrom's.  I really enjoyed this concentrate.  I used this immediately after I had finished the Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate.  This one, however, has an oil consistency compared to the other.  If money was no object, I would purchase this, the Line Reducing concentrate as well as the next Kiehl's product all at once and hopefully have the best skin ever.  But, that's cost prohibitive.  I would consider purchasing this, especially in the cooler months where my skin does extremely well with skin oils.
Keihl's Multi-Corrective Cream (with beech tree extract, jasmonic and hyaluronic acids. Visibly lifts, firms and retexturizes skin) - sample, gift with purchase from Nordstrom's.  Again, I really enjoyed this cream.  I really do think that a combo of the Kiehl's products would give me amazing results.  I would consider purchasing this, again in the cooler months.
Clinique Redness Solutions Soothing Cleanser - purchased from Macy's.  This is supposed to replace what used to be my favorite product for breaking down my foundation, until Clinique discontinued it in place of this.  I was told that Clinique thought the 2 cleansers were too close and phased one out in favor of this.  I don't like this one.  I don't feel it works as well and I also thought that it has a scent to it.  I slowly worked my way through this, but have not repurchased and I would not repurchase.
Origins Brighter By Nature High Potency Brightening Peel with Fruit Acids - purchased from Sephora.  I feel like this has been renamed/repackaged.  I did enjoy using these pads.  I made sure not to use too much pressure since the pads are textured.  I did have some results, but I feel like I've had better results with the serums/concentrates/oils that I've been using.  I think these are now the Modern Friction Instant Brightening Pads.  I used these more when I was taking a long break from microdermabrasion and now that I'm back into that regularly, I probably won't repurchase.
Olay Fresh Effects Everything Off Deluxe Make-Up Removal Wet Cloths - I think these were in a Walmart Beauty Box.  These had a nice scent, and I think they worked decently on getting my makeup off.  I probably won't purchase these since I'm having some allergy issues related to scents, plus right now I'm being cheap and using the E.L.F. wipes.
Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner Color Shield - purchased.  This was a nice conditioner, and I think I've gone through a couple of these.  I haven't decided if I'll repurchase or not.  There's nothing wrong with it, I just feel like I'm over it.
One 'n Only Argan Oil 12-in-1 Daily Treatment - gift with purchase from Sally's Beauty Supply.  I feel like this is a dupe of the It's a 10 spray and felt like I had similar results with it.  I might repurchase this before the other (I had samples of both at the same time).

Bunches of samples, mostly base products, got used up and/or dried out on me before completely finished.
Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet (#34) - I really enjoyed this sample and stretched it out as long as I could.  I would definitely consider getting another sample and/or picking up a full bottle.
Hourglass Immaculate Foundation (shell and pearl) - I could never decide what shade I was (both worked),  I don't remember really enjoying these samples; I've tried other foundations I like better so I probably won't purchase.
Elizabeth Arden BB #1 - didn't hold up to my combo skin (despite the counter employee's claims).  Won't purchase.
Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue (#02) - I only got one or 2 uses out of this, but from what I did try, I did like it.  I thought about getting another sample to try to see how it lasted during the summer but never got around to it.  I might purchase this for cooler months.
2 different samples from Elizabeth Arden (the black containers).  One is the Flawless Future Serum, the other is the 2nd step to the Ceramide Boosting 5-Minute Facial.  The 2nd step is supposed to help reduce redness.  Both were all right, but I wouldn't purchase either.

And lastly, a few items for the "Trashed, but Not Finished" category.
A couple of random spoolies that weren't cooperating anymore.  The tall one kept spinning on me (and more scratchy than I prefer) and the other kept coming out of the handle when I would clean off excess product - the lash comb and brush long ago broke off.  I've replaced these with the E.L.F. $1 spoolies.
Revlon Photoready BB Cream - purchased from Walgreens.  I decided that this did not look good on my skin anymore.  I had a hard time getting it to smooth out well and I've got BB/CC creams that have better coverage.  I was also feeling like each time I used it, my skin looked a little rougher the next day.  Won't repurchase.  In face, I won't be purchasing any more Revlon foundation/base products again.

Do you have a favorite higher SPF product recommendation (30+)?  How about a favorite makeup wipe?

Project "Finish This Stuff" Update, Part 39 - February 2015

**purchased / Influenster sample /
g.w.p. / requested sample

I'm just moving right along on getting caught up for my Project "Finish This Stuff" Updates.  Don't tell, but lately I've been writing these posts 2 at a time and just scheduling them appropriately.  Whatever it takes, right?

Anyway, February wasn't quite as productive as January, but I still got through some things (I decided to stop showing the extremely repetitive Dial hand soap).
First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser with Red Clay - sample in kit purchased from Sephora last year.  This was a nice cleanser, and I've heard it talked about several times on YouTube, but it just wasn't for me.  Just like Origins cleanser that was in the kit, this one left my skin feeling a bit too dry/tight.  I don't recall any fragrance with it, at least.  I really struggle to find the perfect cleanser for me, and this is not it.  Won't repurchase.
Kate Somerville Eradi-Kate Acne Treatment - purchased in Kate Somerville acne starter kit from Sephora.  This was a nice overnight spot treatment that pretty much lasted for a full year with fairly regular use.  Towards the end of the jar, the clear part was mostly gone so it got a little "crumbly" to put on.  While I would repurchase, I decided to go with the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (same thing, cheaper price).
Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray - deluxe travel size, I believe it was a gift with purchase from U.D.'s site a long time ago.  I enjoyed using this spray.  I believe I have another of these same bottles (as well as an inexpensive "dupe").  I would consider repurchasing this at some point but right now I'm looking at one on Sephora's site that has SPF in it.
Equate Sensitive Cleansing Wipes (40-count, compare to Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes) - purchased from Walmart.  I think these were all right.  Actually, now that I'm really thinking, I think I mainly used these to clean swatches/excess makeup off my hands while applying makeup.  Not so much for taking it off my face.  Or maybe I tried it on my face and didn't like it??  Anyway, probably won't repurchase.
Boots No.7 Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum - sample received from Influenster.  I've done an as-complete-as-I-could-make-it-review on the serum that you can read here.  With the amount of product provided, it was hard to do an extended trial (and I believe I was on a no-buy during the trial period so no running to the store to buy a full bottle, either).  As I stated in my review, for being a drugstore brand, this is quite pricey.  I'm leaning towards I would not purchase since it is scented enough that I did experience some scent-induced eye irritation.
MAC Pro-Longwear Concealer in NW 20 - sample made for me at the MAC counter in Macy's.  I think I liked the way this concealer looked, but I need to get through some older concealers before purchasing anything new.  However, I might go and pick up another sample to try it out again.  I'm trying to test out long-wear and/or waterproof products to see what I can use for an upcoming trip in September.  I haven't decided if I would purchase or not - but I will get another sample.
Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum - foil packet (might have been in a Sephora sample bag).  Not enough in this one foil packet to decide if I liked it or would experience any irritation.  Since I really like and want to purchase the Kiehl's serums/concentrates and the Aveeno concentrate, I can't see myself purchasing or even trying to get samples from the local counters.
Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate - gift with purchase and/or requested samples.  I really enjoyed this concentrate!  These tubes are the same as the Concentrate mentioned last week and gave me amazing results in a fairly short amount of time.  I did not experience any breakouts, and if I did happen to have a hormonal spot, it healed quicker with leaving a much lighter-than-usual leftover mark.  My overall texture improved, as well as lightening of older pigmented spots/scars.  When I say a fairly short amount of time, I mean like 2-3 weeks!  I really, really want to purchase this to use on a longer term basis.  Between the 2 foil packets from January, and these 2 tubes, I had enough to last for at least a month and a half.

And one item fell into the "Trashed, but Not Finished" category.
Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion Moisturizer with Sunscreen SPF 15 - purchased.  I could not get into this SPF body moisturizer at all.  It was super thick and hard to rub in.  I tried to give it to the Mister for him to use up (my usual method of getting un-liked products finished) and it landed back in my bathroom shortly after that.  I don't agree with the "clean" claim on the front of the bottle since it was so hard to work in.  Won't repurchase (this bottle is well-expired and most of the way full).  So sad that this money was wasted.  I think I'll go back to the Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration  (introduced to by Influenster) for a body SPF lotion.

Do you have a favorite cleanser?  How about makeup removing wipe?

Project "Finish This Stuff" Update 38 - January 2015

**purchased / g.w.p. /
requested samples

I figured I would spend the brightest sun hours today working on the current year for sharing my Project "Finish" items.  I've also got quite a few items that landed in the "Trashed, but Not Finished" category.  Monday (which is when I'm typing this) night is also when the trash goes out for us, so perfect timing.

I actually finished quite a few things in January, both full size and samples, across the board in makeup, skin care and hair care so let's get started!  I've got a mix of drugstore and high-end products as well.
Kiehl's Deep Moisture Clarifying Cream 24-Hour Hydration - purchased from Kiehl's counter in Nordstrom Feb. '14.  This baby lasted forever!  A little bit goes a long way and it's so moisturizing that I didn't reach for it at all during the warmer months.  It's supposed to be formulated to "help reverse noticeable skin discoloration for an overall improvement in skin clarity."  It has Activated C, White Birch and Peony in it.  Despite being so rich and creamy, I did not have any issues with breakouts and my skin felt perfectly moisturized.  My skin also seems to do well with products containing Activated C.  It is pricey, but I would strongly consider repurchasing for this coming winter (ideally with the concentrate mentioned down below and a serum that will be mentioned for the February update post).
Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Peel & Reveal Revitalizing Mask - purchased from Macy's.  I believe this is the second jar of this mask I've gone through.  I found it to be most effective after a nice steamy shower (or facial) and using the Clarisonic.  It'd pull any loosened "bits" out of my pores and leave my skin feeling nice and supple.  The Mister doesn't like the way it smells, but I do and I know it's got some good stuff in it for my skin health.  I have repurchased, I just need to get back into using at-home masks.
Cover FX CC Cream with SPF 30 in N Light - deluxe sample from using a promo code on Sephora's site ages ago.  I really liked this CC Cream.  The coverage is good without feeling too heavy.  I did have to set it with powder (no real surprise - I do that to everything).  This is free of several inflammatory ingredients and claims to have a time-released treatment.  I would consider purchasing this since I like SPF to be in as many face products as possible, especially for Summer.
Rimmel ScandalEyes Rockin' Curves Mascara - purchased from Walmart.  This was a nice mascara, but the wand did take a little getting used to.  The curves of it did make it easier to get to my inner and outer lashes for a more full, complete look.  Right now, I don't remember if I had any issues with flaking/smudging/etc or not.  I might repurchase, but I have a whole box full of mascaras that need used first.
Aveeno Positively Radiant Targeted Tone Corrector with Vitamin A - purchased from Ulta, but got introduced to it via Influenster.  I believe this is the second tube of this I've gone through.  I've already done a full review, with pictures, here.  I will repurchase, especially considering how effective it is and how relatively little it costs.
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 70 - I believe this came in a Target beauty box.  I used it because I had it, but Neutrogena SPF products are definitely not my favorite.  I used to really like a different SPF for the face from the brand, but ever since I had a reaction to it, I stay away from the brand as much as possible.  Won't purchase.
Origins Cheeks & Balances Frothy Face Wash - deluxe sample in a kit purchased from Sephora in 2014.  I know that lots of people love this face wash, but I didn't really see it.  Yes, it foamed up fairly nicely with my Clarisonic, but my skin felt on the tight/dried out side each time I used this.  I have extremely picky skin so it's hard to find a cleanser that doesn't do that to me.  Won't repurchase
T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel - purchased from Walmart.  I can't tell you how many of these I've gone through.  I use this after using a makeup wipe or cleansing (and sometimes just in place of cleansing if I didn't use much, if any, makeup).  In the winter, I also use this in the morning as an A.M. refresh (the more I use cleanser and water, the worse my skin gets).  Have repurchased, and continue to repurchase.  I use a different toner in the A.M. during the summer.
Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy Damage & Color Repair Nourishing Shampoo - purchased.  I've gone through at least 2 of these.  I really like it and feel like my hair feels it's healthiest when I use it.  But I do need a break or else it seems to not be as effective after a while.  Will repurchase, but I alternate shampoos every other bottle.
Crest 3D White Luxe Sensitive Toothpaste - purchased.  This is my go-to sensitive teeth toothpaste so I don't use it often.  But since it seems like I just wrote about this a week or 2 ago, I must have been more sensitive (or I had one that was partially used and this was a full one?).  Will probably repurchase.

Yes, I use my samples.  Really, a goal of mine this year is to use up all (or as many as possible) of my samples - skincare especially since they are (were) taking over my bathroom.
Kiehl's Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate - requested samples (2).  I saw these packets in the bag and immediately got sad again.  I loved this concentrate!!  I felt I really got nice results from it (especially combined with a product in February's finishes).  Even the woman that does my microdermabrasion noticed the changes it left me with.  It's expensive, but I really want to purchase - I'm just making myself wait until I work through my serums.
Diamond Wipes Gentle Cleansing Makeup Remover Wipes - hotel toiletry sample thing.  Worked pretty well and I think it was a decent size.  But who knows where to get it the store I go for other brands.
Korres Greek Yoghurt Sleeping Facial - requested sample made at Sephora.  This was nice for my winter-dry skin.  My skin felt moisturized but I didn't notice anything superb with this.  Won't purchase.
MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliant - requested sample made at MAC counter in Macy's.  I really liked this exfoliating scrub.  If I didn't have a drugstore exfoliating mask I do like (and didn't have the microdermabrasion done every 3 weeks) I'd consider purchasing.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation in 3.5 - sample pod that came with an U.D. site purchase.  This is actually the shade that an Urban Decay artist matched me to at an Ulta event last year, so I figured I might as well use the samples as well as the bottle I bought then.  I really like this foundation, but I'm not sure how it will wear on my combo-oily skin (now that it's Summer and I believe I was matched in the Fall).  Actually, this pod came with a couple darker shades so I think I just figured out how to get some use out of my too-light drugstore liquid foundations(!).  Will repurchase (I'm most of the way through the full bottle O.o )
Tarte Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment - requested sample made for me at Sephora.  This is a nice eye cream.  There wasn't enough to see any results on if it helps to lighten my permanently dark under-eye circles.  I can say that over the couple of weeks I used this, I did not have any milia.  Would consider purchasing (I believe I have a sample that came in a Tarte holiday set from last year to use first).

This last picture shows the items for "Trashed, but Not Finished," which is things that are expired and/or dried out.
CoverGirl Illuminator stick - way too old and definitely not my favorite formula to use.  Won't repurchase (not even sure if it's still available).
Mario Badescu Drying Mask - gift with purchase at Ulta.  I didn't even really get to try this since it was essentially dried out when I got it.  Bummer.  It did have a rather strong "earthy" aroma, even dried out, so I probably wouldn't purchase.
Spa di Milano Vanilla Latte Shea Butter Lip Recovery - gift from my mom.  This is super old, and since I kept it in my office, it kept changing consistencies from melting in the summer(s) to getting so hard I'd have to scrape some out to use in the winter.  It always felt kind of "chunky" and not smooth.  Won't purchase.
Vanicream Sunscreen Sensitive Skin SPF 30 - samples from dermatologist.  Wow, I haven't even seen the dermatologist in years, so you know these are old.  They got lost in my sample stash and expired 3 years ago.  It's probably not the easiest to get so won't purchase.
Clean & Clear Day Soft Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 15 - purchased.  Again, this got lost in my skincare stash and expired a couple years ago.  I did use it some, but since the SPF is on the low side, I preferred other SPF products.  Won't repurchase (if it's even available anymore).
Color Mates red nail polish - purchased from Big Lots.  It's super dried out and since I have so much nail polish, I decided there wasn't any point in reviving it.  Won't repurchase.

I'm happy that I had such a productive January for getting things finished!  And each time I pull an extremely expired product out of my stash, that's just more room for me to be able to see and use the things I do like.  I definitely weeded out some not-good-for-me products, while discovering and/or rediscovering products that I love.

Do you have a favorite brand of SPF?  How about a favorite serum that treats dark spots (hyperpigmentation)?
