Trying to write a blog post while not scratching the latest batch of mosquito bites...fun. It's been so wet in Ohio this season that you basically can't go out at anytime of the day without getting bit.
Anyway, I thought I'd do a quick little post today about some recent finds I had at Walgreens with their lovely orange clearance stickers. Now, this collection was released with 7 different "sequin overcoats" a.k.a. glitter toppers. Originally I bought 3, but spaced them out from each other - at $8 a piece, the Complete Salon Manicure formula is quite pricey so I tend to not buy them unless there's something special/unique. But just a couple of days ago, I was in Walgreens and the entire collection is now on clearance for $1.99 each! So of course, I snapped up one more. I now have a total of 4 of the overcoats, plus 2 dupes that I already had in my collection. There is one more that I know I wouldn't really use.
Blush Over Hue, Crown Jewels, Over the Rainblue,
(Glare Necessities - grabbed the bottle, then remembered to take the picture),
Strawberry Shields, Open Mica Night, Cheery On Top
Description from the Sally Hansen site:
Dress Up Your Manicure! Layered over your favorite Complete Salon Manicure color, the new overcoat shades add a pop of sequin shine. Signed, Sealed and Sequined!
Now, I could have sworn that I had done a blog post about these way back when they first came out in their Signed, Sealed and Sequined display (not my post). But nothing is coming up - I looked through all of the latter half of 2013 blog posts that were published. On second thought, maybe in my mind I'm mixing them up with a different CSM collection release (Bling in the New Year). So since that's probably the case, it's time to produce some better bottle shots, label shots and pictures of the swatch wheel. If you want to see what the last polish looks like, up close, check out the link above (Signed, Sealed...).
Crown Jewels, Strawberry Shields, Open Mica Night, Glare Necessities
the left 3 swatches are all about 1.5 coats on the wheel; Glare Necessities on the right is 1
Open Mica Night is silver holo square glitters (all one size, nothing else added)! If you're wondering if Hard Candy's Celebrate Sequins is a dupe, it's not since it contains microglitter as well as the squares. OPI's In True Stefani Fashion is also not a dupe (it's closer to H.C. Celebrate Sequins). Glare Necessities - the one I just picked up - is more purple than my pictures are showing and also has metallic silver hex glitters (both colors are in multiple sizes). Strawberry Shields is multiple shades of red hex glitter in a clear base. Crown Jewels is a gold multi-sized hex glitter that seems to have a touch of green cast to the green. All are in a nice clear base, all applied pretty easily to the wheel.
These 2 OPI polishes are My Version Of/dupes that I already had in my collection before I started getting any of the Overcoats. I would consider these "My Version of" Blush Over Hue and Cheery On Top (respectively). According to comments in the outside post I linked to above, SinfulColors Full Spectrum (which I do have) is also a dupe of Blush Over Hue.
Pink Yet Lavender and Polka.com
And all together is a representation of 6 of the 7 polishes in the line. If the blue hadn't been bar glitters, it'd probably be here in the line up as well...
The Sequin Overcoat polishes are on clearance at both Walgreens and CVS. It's possible that they might show up on clearance at Rite Aid and other drugstores in the coming weeks. Who knows?
Did you pick up any of the Sequin Overcoat glitters in their lifetime at the drugstores? Will you now that they are being spotted on clearance?
