31 Day Challenge Day 1 - Red

Another extremely busy week has quickly come and gone with me unfortunately not having a single chance to sit down in front of the computer to get any posts up.  :-(  I'm hopeful that things will be starting to calm down now as we are hopefully starting to head into the cooler Fall weather.  Yesterday I wasn't able to get a post up since the Mister was working on our network all day and half the night in order to get things running better.  But today it's running pretty smoothly!

Let's hope that starting today, I'll be able to get myself in front of the computer at least once a day and get this blog back on track.  I thought a good way to do that would be to at least try to follow the 31 Day Challenge ( #31DC2014 ), which I've never done before.  I thought this would be a good way to push myself a bit and try some new techniques.

On to my RED nails for Day 1, which utilized several polishes from last year's OPI Couture de Minnie collection.
Most of my nails got 2 coats of OPI Magazine Cover Mouse (liquid sand).  After this was good and dry, I managed to get a pair of hearts stamped on my middle finger using Essie Good as Gold.
I used a stamping plate from Essence that I bought from Ulta a while ago.  I originally tried the bow but could not get it to work at all.

As for my ring finger, I did a "jelly sandwich" using a couple of OPI polishes.
2 coats of Don't Touch My Tutu!, 1 coat of Minnie Style, 2 more coats of Don't Touch My Tutu! and a final coat of Minnie Style

>>  The white glitters in Minnie Style are starting to sink in my bottle so prior to using, I had it upside down for a couple minutes...but they sunk again by the time I got ready for my pictures.  Don't Touch My Tutu! is from the Spring 2012 NYC Ballet Soft Shades collection.  <<

In just one mani, I've done 2 techniques that I either haven't done in forever (stamping) or something I've only done 1-2 times (jelly sandwich).  This challenge should prove interesting as the last time I attempted to do a gradient (not counting a glitter one), it did not work at all...and other than polka dots, I've never tried any of the styles.  Who knows how I'll manage to do the "inspired by..." section.

Are you going to attempt to follow along in the 31 Day Challenge?  Are you ready for Fall weather?
