Spotted, Hauled & Swatched - Orly Galaxy FX Collection

**all items purchased by me

Now that I've slept probably half the day (stupid cold/flu crap), it's time to get this post finished.  I wanted to get this edition of Spotted, Hauled & Swatched up as soon as possible.  Right now at Sally's Beauty Supply, Orly polishes are on sale for Buy One Get One Free with coupon!  This includes the new Galaxy FX collection, which retails for $8.99 ($7.99 if you're a Sally's Beauty Club card holder).  The sale runs through January 31 and only excludes gel pocket removers.  So I got all 6 shades for under $25!  Score!!

As always, a display picture:
 All lined up at home:
Starburst, Star Trooper, Intergalactic Space, Black Hole, Gravity Bound, Milky Way
 Bottle and label shots:
Upper: Starburst, Star Trooper, Intergalactic Space
Below: Black Hole, Gravity Bound, Milky Way
And swatches:
Starburst, Star Trooper, Intergalactic space, Black Hole, Gravity Bound, Milky Way
I did 2 coats on all of these BUT I wouldn't recommend it for most.  I made some notes:
  • Starburst, Interglactic and Black Hole - these actually looked better on the nail wheel at one coat since the second hid the circle glitters (which I believe are matte white circles in all 3)
  • Intergalactic is one of the thicker polishes, but that made it easier to get the circles out
  • Gravity Bound, Star Trooper and Milky Way do not have the circle glitters
  • Black Hole has some circle glitters (I believe they are matte white) but also has small blue bar glitters - the majority of glitter is red hex
  • Milky Way came out of the bottle a little chunky/clumpy but workable.  It would probably take a couple coats of top coat to smooth out (maybe a touch of thinner would help)
  • Star Trooper dried the smoothest feeling (but using only one coat on the rest might change that)
  • Star Trooper was the sheerest, but was the easiest to apply and looks excellent with the second coat; Gravity Bound was close behind in application and also looks pretty good with 2 coats (although hardly needed)
  • Starburst and Milky Way are in milky bases - Starburst is a creamy white and Milky Way is a light baby blue
It really seems like Orly is trying to be very creative with their releases - little squares last year, circles this year (and not holo circles like the OPI Mariah Carey glitter).  I wonder what's next.  I hope that the formulas will be better than the Flash Glam FX glitters.  Only time will tell if they separate between uses or not.  The only thing with Orly is that, other than Facebook, Orly seems to not advertise/promote collections much.

My surprise favorite is Star Trooper with it's combination of gold micro glitter and silver shiny hex in kind of an olive green base.  I also really like the final look of Milky Way with it's touch of holo glitter flash and I really like the color combination of Intergalactic Space.  I think I'd like Black Hole better if its base didn't hid the circle glitters so well

See anything you like?  Do you like that Orly seems to be introducing glitters that no other main-stream brand is even thinking of/even close to?  Let me know if you'd like to see any of these on the nails soon!  It might be easier to see the details of the combinations.
