Project "Finish This Stuff," part 26 - November 2013

Hi!

or requested sample

I can't believe that it's a new year!  Where did the time go?!?!  The entire month of December flew by and I never got my November Project "Finish This Stuff" update done, so I'm doing it today.  December's update will be following this post soon (and will include the final counts for finished products as well as trashed but not finished items).  As always, I've included mini reviews of the products and whether or not I'll be purchasing/repurchasing or not.

First up is some skin and lip care products:
Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Cold Ultra Restorative Capsules - I believe came in a gift with purchase.  These are supposed to be used on the face but I ended up using them on my neck and upper chest.  There was a scent to them that I did not care for having anywhere near my eyes and nose, and it pulled up any acne treatment product I had already put on.  Won't purchase (but I do have more sample packs).
Peter Thomas Roth Acne Spot and Area Treatment - came in a kit that I purchased from Ulta.  My skin has seemed to respond better to this than the prescription benzoyl peroxide I was using for a couple years.  There is a sulfur odor to it, but I don't notice it lasting (at least to my nose).  I also don't find this to be drying, like the benzoyl peroxide.  Already purchased full size.
Burt's Bees Rejuvenating Lip Balm with Acai Berry - purchased (either Walmart, Rite Aid or Giant Eagle).  This was a nice lip balm that did help with moisturizing chapped lips, but it wasn't my #1 favorite (which is a different Burt's Bees lip balm) since I didn't notice any preventing of chapped lips.  Right now is chapped lip season so keeping my lips hydrated is a problem.  This one worked better for me when it's not so cold/windy.  Probably won't repurchase since I like a different Burt's Bees better that I find to be even more hydrating (and longer lasting).

Now a couple body care products (no mini/travel size lotion this month since I was testing a full size bottle from Influenster):
Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash - purchased from Walmart.  I've gone through numerous bottles of this over the years.  I feel like it does help to resolve any body acne issues I have.  But during the winter I try not to use it as often since it is drying to the skin.  I will repurchase (when I went to repurchase, Walmart was out of this one so I ended up with the Body Scrub).
EOS Shave Cream in Lavender Jasmine - purchased from Walmart (I think).  It's nice that you don't have to use water to shave when using this product.  The scent wasn't too strong and I didn't end up terribly dry after using (whether a wet or dry shave).  But it's not my favorite.  I found that once I got most of the way through the bottle, the pump was no longer able to get the product out even though there was still at least 2 shaves' worth of cream left.  It seems like this was also on the pricier side for how much you get and how quickly it goes.  I actually prefer to use a Pantene hair conditioner to shave with since I generally have even less irritation using that and my skin is left feeling more moisturized.  Won't repurchase.

And a few makeup items and brushes:
Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation in Ivory - sample.  I got this sample from Sephora in December 2012, used it some then it got misplaced in my collection.  I found it again, used it up and loved the way my skin felt after applying it and purchased the full size from Ulta.  I decided to purchase it after putting it on on a day that my skin felt like it was super irritated from being dry and it stopped feeling that way within about 5 minutes.  I like this, but I'm not sure it's my "holy grail" foundation to hold up to my skin (I have noticed that it breaks down on my forehead and looks cakey around my mouth some days).  Purchased the full size.  Side note - I actually like this better and have a better finished look when I mix in a bit of the Cover Girl Outlast 3-in-1 Foundation.
Neutrogena Skin Soothing Eye Tints - purchased from Rite Aid a long time ago.  I never really liked this from day one, but never got around to returning it like I should have.  It always felt dry applying and didn't blend well.  I believe this is long discontinued; won't repurchase.  This product actually belongs in the "trashed but not finished" category.
Wet 'n Wild MegaProtein mascara - purchased...might have come with something else.  I did not like this at all.  It was a very wet formula and I noticed smudging on my browbones most days that I used this.  This had a very natural look and I didn't notice any clumping...just smudging.  Won't repurchase.
Cover Girl kabuki brush - I believe this came with a Cover Girl loose powder a long time ago.  I found this smashed in the bottom of a drawer, tried it against my skin and decided it was on the scratchier side compared to my EcoTools and Sonia Kashuk kabuki brushes.  Won't repurchase.
E.L.F. Concealer brush (3) - purchased from Target/Dollar Tree/Big Lots.  This is what I always use to do cleanup for my nails.  Sometimes the quality is better than others - these particular ones fell apart rather quickly.  Once they get gunked up/bristles spread out too much, I move on to the next.  Will repurchase (already have, actually).

I also finished a small candle (yay!), but that long ago met the trash can.  And of course, lots of cotton pads used for eye makeup removal and polish removal.

What's your favorite lip balm for chapped lips?  How about foundation for, as I call it, stupid skin (oily/dry/sensitive/acne prone)?
