I'm just a bit behind in my haul posts, as usual. But that's all right. Today I've got what I bought myself for my birthday last month (not that I don't buy myself stuff all the time or anything...). But since Sephora isn't a store that is close to where I live, on my birthday I got to make a trip north to go there and get myself something(s)...plus by going there I was able to get samples of things and some advice on what products to try for getting my skin under control and undoing the past decade + (yikes!) worth of acne damage.
Sephora Fomula X glitter topper polish in Demolition
Kat Von D True Romance Palette in Sinner (includes a Autograph Pencil in Puro Amor)
~I'm still playing around with this and am planning on putting up swatches and a review in the next few weeks~
Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer (.33 fl. oz. bottle)
sample sizes of Benefit They're Real! mascara and Watts Up! Soft Focus Highlighter
Cover FX Mattifying Primer, Oil Free Foundation in N10 and N25
Hourglass Immaculate Foundation in Shell (the Color IQ suggested this as a match...after a little adjustment) and Pearl
Make Up Forever Primer #1 (the green one)
~I seemed to be in between shades of both the Cover FX and the Hourglass (at least in store it looked that way)~
EradiKate Acne Treatment and Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel
~I feel like the EradiKate Acne Treatment might be similar to the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, which I can easily get my hands on at Ulta~
~If I like the P.T.R. FirmX Peeling Gel, I can also get that from Ulta~
Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Moisturizer Oil-Free and
Dr. Dennis Gross Original Formula Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel (2 sets)
Murad Clarifying Wipes (2 packs)
Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask to Rescue Problem Skin and Zero Oil Lotion
And I made a stop at the beauty counter department of Nordstroms (again, never been) and ended up with another little sample jar from Clinique. Fortunately, if I do like anything from Clinique I can easily get my hands on it from either Macy's or Dillards.
Acne Clearing (I believe that's what she abbreviated the all-over clearing treatment as)
I have to say, if Sephora was closer to where I live, I feel like I'd always be there (as is what happened when Ulta opened a location about 10-15 minutes from home). I really like the Skin IQ that lets you look up pretty much every product in the store and get print-outs for samples you get. When I went to Sephora the last time in 2012, I believe it was before both the Skin IQ and the Color IQ machines were around.
I figure that once I figure out what products and/or shades (foundation) I like, I can order any time from Sephora's website...unless I feel like a bit of a drive. If I do feel like going on a drive, then hopefully I'll pick a better time to get started (unlike on my actual birthday where first I had to drive around to different pet stores to get food for the bunnies since the one I normally go to was out)...or go to a slightly closer location.
See anything you've used before? If you're between foundation shades, do you go for the one that's lighter or darker?
