Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Moisturizer Review

**received as requested sample

Today I've got a review to share.  It's on one of the samples I received when I went to Sephora last month - more specifically, the Clinique Acne Solutions Clearing Moisturizer Oil-Free.  The nice skin care expert gave me 2 little pots so I could have a longer time to try it.
these are my sample pots (and print out)

For reference, I have sensitive combination skin with an oily t-zone, normal on my cheeks and dry around my mouth and chin - and I can't seem to get rid of my breakouts.  And for this week, I've been actually dry pretty much everywhere.  My skin needs and type change practically overnight it seems like.  Talk about confused.  I've been using this at night after washing my face, which lately has been leading to extra dryness in my dry areas, as well as between my eyebrows.  I figured this would be a good time to try it out since my skin is needing as much moisture, especially at night, as it can get.  For day use, I use a different brand with SPF.
My thoughts:
This moisturizer didn't take long for me to form an opinion on - 3-4 days.  I find this lotion is not hydrating enough to sooth my skin.  While to the touch my skin feels somewhat moisturized, deeper down it still feels dry.  As for lasting power, I find that to be lacking as well.  Less than 8 hours after application and my skin is literally flaking off in my driest areas.  I'm glad that I did not purchase this because then I'd either have to pass it off on the Mister or worry about returning it.  This lotion, while not cheap, is not super expensive either - it's $20 (drugstore brands are getting up there in price depending on what claims it has), where ever you can find Clinique products - department stores, Sephora, online.

Maybe this would work better for me in conjunction with a different cleanser or in the summer time when I'm normally fairly oily.  But as of right now, it's a fail for me.  I think I might put the unopened sample pot in the cabinet and try again when my skin is on the oilier side in a few months.

Have you tried this moisturizer?  Any luck with it?  What's your favorite facial moisturizer?
