Smoke and Ashes with some Southbeach Ice

Hi!
**all items purchased by me

I was going to do a haul today, but at the last minute I decided to do a nail post instead.  It's not like some of the pictures I need are still mixed up on the camera or anything....  I'm still working through the ABC polish challenge so let's see the next letter:
As usual, I got things started off with a coat of Bridge the Ridge base coat followed by 1 coat of China Glaze Smoke and Ashes.  I'm pretty sure I topped that with some China Glaze Fast Forward.
China Glaze Smoke and Ashes is from the 2012 Hunger Games collection (bought mine on clearance - that clearance sale was actually when I started purchasing China Glaze polishes).  This is a gorgeous black filled with glowing green fine glitters (maybe some silver as well).  In some lights, it just looked plain black...but get it at the right angle in the sun and hello sparkles!  I love that it covers in just one coat!

Then I wanted to add some more interest, but in a more subdued way.  So I added one coat of Zoya Southbeach Ice.  I don't remember if I finished it all off with another coat of Fast Forward or not, though.
Zoya South Beach Ice is from the Glamsicles collection (maybe 2010?).  It's a sheer flakie topper that looks minty in the bottle, but over a dark color I just saw the pretty mini flakies enhancing the ones in China Glaze's Smoke and Ashes.  I bet this would be pretty over a lot of other base colors, but definitely not on it's own.  I don't believe this is available from Zoya anymore.
Southbeach Ice just basically enhances the microglitters of Smoke and Ash without being too obnoxious/in your face.

All in all, this was a nice dark mani - very appropriate for wearing it in October (yep, still well behind).  In "real life" I've finished the challenge, but I've still got a ways to go for getting all the different looks posted. When I finally get every letter posted, I'll have a wrap-up with links to the original posts (and yes, I've already started working on that - I'm anxious to get there).  Just 7 more letters to post!

Once the cooler months hit, do you start wearing more dark polishes?  Or do you just apply whatever catches your eye?
