Project "Finish This Stuff," part 24 - September 2013

Time to prove that I really do more than just go shopping...I mean, time to share a Project "Finish This Stuff" update!  I can't believe how quickly time is just flying by and that it's October 1 already.  Wow.  Well, let's get on to the purpose of the post, which is what all I got finished out of my way-to-large stash.  As usual, mini reviews will be included and whether I'll purchase/repurchase or not.

Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser for normal to oily skin - this baby's lasted a couple years (maybe even 3?).  I bought this shortly after starting to see the dermatologist however many years ago.  At first I liked it, but for the last year this actually started making my skin feel too tight after cleansing with it.  I finished it by using it for washing foundation brushes.  Won't repurchase.
Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer with sunscreen broad spectrum 30 - purchased this after using a sample.  At first I really liked it, but then I noticed that it didn't control my oil as much as I would have liked.  Also, the pump stopped working when there was probably still around a quarter of product left - packaging fail!  Won't repurchase.
CVS Eye Makeup Remover oil-free - bought from CVS.  I've lost track of how many of these I've gone through.  My favorite for removing eye makeup, and I even use what's left on my cotton pad to start to break up my foundation before fully cleansing.  Already repurchased (and will continue to do so).

Nails and more Skincare:
Out the Door fast drying top coat - mini purchased on clearance from Sally's Beauty Supply.  This has become one of 2 of my go-to fast dry top coats.  I've already purchased the full-size (I actually poured the last little bit of this one that I couldn't get out into the full-size bottle).
Bridge the Ridge Ridge-Filling Basecoat - bought from Sally's Beauty Supply.  This works really well at filling in the small ridges and occasional low-spots from peelies that I get.  It dries to a slightly cloudy-looking matte finish.  I'm not sure how it works on nails that are heavily ridged since mine are little.  Already repurchased.
E.L.F. Professional Concealer Brush - purchased either from Dollar Tree or Target.  This is what I use as a clean-up brush when doing my nails.  This one unfortunately went bad sooner than it seemed like it should have.  Already repurchased.
Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Lotion Sunscreen SPF 15 - received with my last purchase.  There is something about the scent of this lotion that burns my eyes so it's not one I can use.  It also provides too much moisture; I don't feel like it actually "balances" my skin - using this I'm more oily than normal.  Won't purchase.

Body and Hand:
Hawaiian Tropic Silk Hydration Broad Spectrum SPF 30 - received free from Influenster for review.  Love this stuff!  It's thick and moisturizing, but still provides the perfect amount of sun protection for the body without smelling spf-y.  If you'd like, you can read my original review by clicking here.  Will repurchase once other body spf lotions are used up.
Bath & Body Works Cashmere Glow body lotion (travel size) - got free with coupon - either with or without purchase.  Provided decent moisture, but something about the scent really bothered the Mister.  Won't repurchase, especially this scent (unfortunately for him, I have a full-size of this...)  Oddly enough, I believe I have the fragrance mist and it's not as strong.
Softsoap Soothing Aloe Vera Moisturizing Hand Soap - bought from KMart.  Didn't really care for this soap.  It wasn't particularly moisturizing and the packaging wasn't the best - where the bottle changes shape is basically as far as the pump works, leaving more soap out of reach.  Won't repurchase.

Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy Damage & Color Repair shampoo and conditioner sample packets - 4 each received from FaceBook giveaway (the rest of the sample box was used last month).  I really enjoyed these samples, especially the conditioner.  I actually noticed a couple of days before my last haircut that I had less spots towards the end of my hair where it was breaking off and less split ends as well, and this has been the only shampoo and conditioner I've been using for at least 4 weeks prior to the appointment.  Already purchased full sizes of both.

And Makeup!:
E.L.F. Complexion Perfection powder - purchased from Target ($3).  This worked fairly well at setting my makeup, and for a while, I would take a smaller fluffy brush and just go into the yellow square and use that to set my under-eye concealer.  I don't think it has a noticeable complexion perfecting ability, but I do think it does help some.  Already repurchased.
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation in Light 1 - purchased from Walmart.  Ahem...It's finally done!! Yay!!  Now that that's out of my system, I wasn't fond of how this set on my skin.  It easily transferred and didn't hold up that well to my oily sections.  I can say that the color match was pretty close.  I also thought it was kind of messy to apply until I found a different type of brush to apply it with.  Won't repurchase.
Maybelline Volume Express Falsies Flared mascara - purchased from Walmart (probably).  I really liked this mascara.  It gave good thickness without being clumpy as well as provided some more length.  As it got toward the end of it's lifespan it did occassionally flake off, but I'll blame that on it drying out in the tube and being older.  I believe I've already repurchased, but before I open the new one I've got a lot more mascaras that need to be used.
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder in Light 4-5 - purchased from Walmart (probably).  I'd say that this has probably been one of the top powders I've used to set my foundation and stay matte.  It's definitely better than others I've tried (Rimmel, L'Oreal True Match).  I will most likely repurchase, but not until I use up more of the powders I already have opened.

I was just looking back at my Makeup I Can't Wait Till It's Finished post and I've managed to use up half of those products.  I was trying to find what month I decided to do a sub-challenge and finish at least one travel-sized body lotion a month, but as of right now I can't find it.  Looking through past months, I have finished one a month since January 2013.  I think that I've made good progress this year in cleaning out older products and/or ones that don't quite work as well as I'd hoped.  I am curious as to how many more items I'll get finished by the end of the year.

Have you finished much lately?  Did you like it or just finish it to get your money's worth and not feel like you wasted the money spent?
