International Nail Art Day - Fun with Dots (again)!

Today is International Nail Art Day!  I'd never heard of it before I looked on Instagram this morning, but then there's a lot of special days that I've never heard of.  Anyway, I just happened to have a mani sitting in the computer folder just waiting for it's special day to be the is that day!

This is 2 coats of OPI If You Moust You Moust over my usual ridge-filling base coat.  And there's probably a coat of Out the Door as well.
If You Moust You Moust is from the June 2012 Vintage Minnie Mouse collection from OPI.  I love this pink!  It's so bright that on my pale skin it looks like it could be a neon, but it's not.  It's just a normal bright hot pink creme polish that applies super easy.
Then I got out my dotting tools and white and black polishes and started having some fun.  White dots on all my nails with the addition of Mickey heads on my ring fingers and thumbs.
The normal hand you see - my right
Now for the rare left hand making an appearance!!  This was so simple I was able to make art on my dominant hand

I used Sally Hansen InstaDri Whirlwind White and Wet n Wild Black.  I used 2 different sizes of dotting tools, but for Mickey's actual head, it's multiple dots bunched up together into a circle and then added dots for ears.  I should have gotten something a little bigger out to make it better, but next time.  I sealed everything in with another coat of Out the Door after several minutes had passed.

I loved this mani so much that I didn't want to take it off...ever.  I had done this on top of a patch on one of my thumb nails and the patch held up so well that I just reapplied the pink to other nails it had chipped off.  I think I had that one thumb art on for probably a good week and a half.  That's just unheard of for me.  I usually do a mani, it chips after a few days on some nails so it all comes off then move on to something else.

Would you call this a Mickey manicure, since there's no bow?  Or would you call it a Minnie manicure since the background is bright pink?  Which ever you do, it sure is cute.  :-)

Do you do nail art very often?  What's easiest for you to do?  A "dotticure" of some sort?  Stripes?  Or how about stamping?

  1. This is adorable!!! I need to buy a dotting tool asap...I don't do alot of nail art but I'm trying lol I'm left handed too and my right hands kinda shakey but I'm gonna have to try this! I'm honestly head over heels for this...and if you wanted to make it a mickey mani you could do it over red :)

    1. Hi Ashley! Thanks for your comment. There's so much you can do with a dotting tool. I found that if I kept both hands on the table, I was less shaky when using my right hand. I should totally re-do this over red - thanks for the suggestion! So happy you liked it! Have fun making dots! :-)
