Elizabeth Arden/Dillards Haul - New Skincare

**all items either received as requested samples
**or purchased

I missed getting a post up yesterday since we were without our internet connection all evening and into the night thanks to a very quick moving, high wind storm system.  I've had the pleasure of listening to all the tree services throughout the neighborhood cutting up and chipping both tree branches that had fallen in yards as well as full sized trees down across roads.  Luckily we, ourselves, didn't have anything come down like others.

What first brought me to stop at the Elizabeth Arden counter in Dillards was I had recently noticed that I was having problems with milia/congested pores in my under-eye area from the cream I had been using.  So I figured I might as well see what was available at places other than the drugstore/Walmart.  I also knew I needed to purchase a new brush head for my Clarisonic (I'd put it off for way too long).  And from that point, we started discussing if there was anything I could try to really help with the acne scarring/hyperpigmentation which I'm so self-conscious about and the Mister hates.

So I thought today I would share my latest skincare finds.  I got a lot of samples, but I also purchased a couple of things over a couple weeks.

Let's see what all samples I received to try:
Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant (sample tube),
Ceramide eye cream and Visible Difference Moisturizing eye cream
 (2) Visible Difference Skin Balancing Skincare 3-piece packets
(5) Visible Difference Optimizing Skin Serum packets

She gave me enough samples of the product she really wanted me to try (the serum) to last at least a week since the product claims to be able to see results in 6 days.

And I finally bought my replacement brush heads for my Clarisonic Mia.  I got the twin-pack for sensitive skin:

About a week later, I went back to see the same woman - Callie - (counter manager) for a "check-in" to see how my skin was responding to the serum she so kindly gave me the many samples of.  We were both quite pleased with how things have been progressing already.
She gave me a couple packets of Prevage Face Advanced Anti-Aging Serum to try just to see if that worked even better (but it's much more pricey).
And I got samples of Visible Difference BB Cream in shade #1 (top pot)
Visible Difference Peel & Reveal Revitalizing Mask (left pot - not a sample normally given out, but she made it happen)
Visible Difference Oil-Free Lotion (right pot)
Visible Difference Good Morning Retexturizing Primer (right sample tube)

And I purchased the Visible Difference Optimizing Skin Serum:

I also went back last Friday to see Callie for another check-in and she's still seeing progress being made.  She wanted me to go to a Master Class for skincare this coming Friday, but unfortunately I already had plans for the entire day. :-(  I'm hoping that there will be another class coming up that I am able to attend.   I didn't purchase anything during that visit, but I did get a bit more of the mask to put with my first one (I got one full use out of the first pot and still had some left so I wanted enough to do another full face).

I've really been enjoying trying all these samples to see what works for me and what doesn't.  There's a couple things that I didn't like, one I did like but it's not a good match for me (found that out after 2 weeks) and some others that I'm still testing out.  I'm already plotting my next purchase.  I've decided that if I have to pay more for things that actually work, then I'm going to do it and stop worrying about how much it costs.  I've spent way more on prescriptions that don't always work.  This way, I can get samples to see what's going to happen so I know for sure if it's going to be worth the investment.

I'm thinking about doing a review on the serum.  I even took pictures before and throughout the first week so I could see progress.  I should take a new set of pictures to be able to do a before-and-after for the review. Maybe I'll get that review up in the first part of July so it will be a month of using the serum.

Do you stick to drugstore products for facial skincare, or do you invest more if the product is worth it?
