Happy Easter!

Hi!

I missed getting a post up yesterday after taking a late-night, unplanned trip to Walmart (that was totally my mom's doing since she needed to go and I'm still her driver) that took place when I'm normally doing my post for the day.  I do not advise going to Walmart a couple days before a holiday unless you want to spend a half-hour waiting in line, even though it was 11:30 at night when we were ready to check out.  Uck.  Other lines were even worse so we were lucky to get out of there before midnight.

Anyway, I'm still working on getting my nails all pretty for tomorrow's feast and I have some crazy hair since I didn't have time to blow-dry it after my shower.  So I've got to jump off here pretty quickly to get my nails done and my hair straightened.  But I did want to get on here real quick to wish you all a Happy Easter (if you celebrate, that is - otherwise, have a great day)!
http://www.fantasiescometrue.com/images/medium/fct_69d1c51635dfadd.jpg

And I'm off to go try to tame this wild mass of hair! Then finish doing my nails with my go-to look of a glitter gradient.

How are you planning on doing your nails for the holiday?  Plain, glitter, mini works of art?

Zoya Vespa Nails

Hi!

**all items purchased by me
Today I've got a Spring-y looking mani to show.  This is also the polish that caused me to fall in love with Zoya's PixieDust polishes and go back and get the rest of the collection.

This is 3 coats of Zoya Vespa - no base coat or top coat.  3 coats is what is recommended on Zoya's website for all the PixieDust polishes so I followed directions/recommendations. I would say that with Vespa, 3 coats is needed as it is on the sheer-er side.

I loved the way this looked and felt on the nails.  Vespa is a pretty mint/sea-foam green with little silvery shimmers sprinkled throughout to give some more interest.  This felt like I had gotten my nails wet and stuck them in a bowl of sugar and the sugar had dried on my nails.  All of the particles are the same size.  Definitely not sharp or anything that would get caught or snagged on something.

My only issue with Vespa was that by the next day, I had a chip on one of my nails already.  Right now I don't remember if I hit it on something (or was opening a new can of food for Kitty) or what.  So that was a little disappointing.  And this definitely did not last through cleaning.  But as I'm writing this, I've got a different PixieDust on and it is lasting much better (except for my thumb but I know what happened there that caused the chips).

Description of Zoya Nail Polish in Vespa

Zoya Nail Polish in Vespa can be best described as a Mint Kiss with a sugared sparkle, in the exclusive Zoya PixieDust Matte Sparkle formula.

Color Family Green

Color Finish PixieDust

Color Intensity 5 ( 1=Sheer - 5=Opaque )

Color Tone Cool, Neutral

IMPORTANT PixieDust Application:

Do not use a base coat or top coat.
Apply 1-3 (for full coverage) thin coats of polish.
Allow product to dry completely in between layers.
I am definitely looking forward to the next release of the PixieDust line - 6 new (bright) colors are coming!  I'm sure that as soon as I see them in the store, I'll be picking them up.

Did you get any of the Zoya PixieDust polishes?  Do textured polishes appeal to you?

Spotted & Hauled - OPI Oz: The Great and Powerful Collection!

Hi!

**all items purchased by me

I've got my other Spring release polish haul to share (also purchased from the beauty supply I get my Zoyas at)!  This one is the OPI Oz: The Great and Powerful collection.  This collection is being released as the yearly Soft Shades collection for 2013.  I managed to practice a lot more restraint with this release than I did with the Zoya PixieDust release.  lol

The collection is made up of 7 polishes total - I got 3 total (after 3 different trips).  The sheer colors didn't interest me, and once I saw the rumors and then the reviews of the amazing looking gold glitter being curled, I passed on that one as well.

The first polish I picked up is:
 Lights of Emerald City
~white square (slightly deformed squares that is) glitter with iridescent squares in a clear base~~

Then I picked up on a second trip (which I justified this trip as I needed a regular sized bottle of Out the Door since my mini is getting low):
What Wizardry is This?
~~new Liquid Sand shade! that's dark brown with gold shimmer~~

And on the last trip, I brought home:
Which is Witch?
~~clear base with tiny little bar glitters and hex glitters that are all holographic~~

Which is Witch? is a polish that I went back and forth on getting.  At first, I thought I could get a similar look using polishes I have in the stash already, but then the more I saw swatches of it, the more I wanted the original.

If "When Monkeys Fly!" didn't have the curling glitter issue, that one would have come home as well, but since I can't stand when glitter doesn't lay down well, I passed.  If you're curious, when I use a star glitter polish after pictures I tend to take a pair of clippers and nip any of the points that are bugging me.  At least OPI did later address the issue via their Facebook page for those unhappy with their purchase of When Monkeys Fly.

Did you get any of the Oz inspired polishes?  What colors would you pair under the glitter polishes?

Spotted & Hauled: Zoya PixieDust Collection!

Hi!

**all items purchased by me

Today I've got my Spotted & Hauled post for the current Zoya PixieDust release!  I got these from the local beauty supply store that stocks Zoya (and it was a much better price than ordering them online from Zoya's website).  The only thing with buying collections from this store is that the displays are all on the checkout counter and at least one person is always hovering there so...no display pictures.

I bought 4 of these first, then after wearing one and falling in love, I turned around and went back and got the other 2 to complete the collection.  So let's see the first "batch" of these that I bought:

NYX, Godiva and Vespa (above) and Dahlia (below)

And I went back and got the other 2 about a week later:
Chyna and London

Aren't they all so pretty?! I tried to convince myself that I could make a similar on the nail look (but not texture) to Chyna by using a matte topcoat on top of Red Carpet from Sally Hansen...but then I decided I wanted the entire collection so there went that thought.  I sometimes wonder if I have OCD tendencies since when collections come out, I'm highly inclined to get the entire collection if the majority of it appeals to me.  I have the feeling that I'll also be purchasing all of the Summer release as well (when I see it in the store).

From Zoya's website "Infused with magic and wonder! The latest "must-have" nail polish finish - textured, matte and sparkling! This newly developed formula is sure to captivate with a magical sparkle and sugary finish like no other. The color experts at Zoya have created six, long-wearing stunners for the introduction of this enchanting look."

Did you get any of Zoya's PixieDusts from this release?  Do you want any from the next batch?  If you want to see any of these on the nails soon, let me know!

Miscellaneous Monday - DIY Sping Inspired Painted Marbles

Hi!

**all items purchased by me
Time for Miscellaneous Monday again.  I mentioned on Twitter earlier that I was lacking motivation for getting things started and finished today, so that means just a little short post today.  And apparently when I'm lacking motivation that means I am running too short on good rest since I took an unplanned nap today and felt much better and more focused.

Today is a cute little easy Spring inspired craft.  A cartoon-y flower and a ladybug painted on glass marbles.  So simple, so quick, so cute!  I still don't know what to do with them, but I made them.
Both images are just free-handed using various colors of Scribbles paints.  The biggest part is using your imagination to come up with various designs.  The longest part was drying time for the various colors so I wouldn't pick up black paint on the tip of the white bottle - and of course, the final drying time.  I do have to say that Scribbles dry fairly quickly, unless the layers are really thick.

Have you done any Spring-inspired crafts lately?  I'm in the mood to do some more - I just need to find the directions for the one project I really want to do (ahhh!!! that means searching through emails).

Sunday Stash Sharing - Wet 'n Wild Fergie Polishes

Hi!

**all items purchased by me

It's Sunday again - that week went quick - so it's time to share some more of what's in my massive stash!  For this week, I've got the Fergie line from Wet 'n Wild showing off.  I don't have many of these as quite a few are duplicates of polishes from Wet 'n Wild's Spoiled line that's available at CVS.  Also, at least one is a duplicate of one of the limited edition Color Icon Ice Baby glitters that came out at the end of 2011.

With that said, let's see their group shot!
 And close ups!
From top down:  Hollywood Walk of Fame (A009) - multicolored stars
Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night (A024) - black and gold glitter
Ferguson Crest Syrah (A018)
New Years Kiss (A001) - super fine silver glitter and small bar glitter

That's all that I have from the Fergie line, and as of now there has only been a core release.  The 3 glitters - Hollywood Walk of Fame, Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night and New Years Kiss - are all in a clear base.  Hollywood Walk of Fame is on the trickier side to apply since it's stars.  Ferguson Crest Syrah is rumored to be a dupe of Zoya Valerie (I can't confirm that).

The Fergie line is available, in varying amounts, at Walgreens, Rite Aid and Walmart.  I believe these are around $3.50 each, but it's been a while since I purchased these so I could be off.

As always, let me know if you'd like to see any of these on the nails soon!

Do you have any of the Fergie line?  Different ones from what I have?  Let me know!

Spotted & Hauled - Wet 'n Wild Spring Forward Eyeshadow Collection!

Hi!

**all items purchased by me

Remember a few weeks ago when there was news about 2 new Wet n Wild 8-pan eyeshadow palettes being released?  Well, after some searching at the various drugstores since the news broke, I finally found them!  I haven't seen them at Walgreens, Rite Aid or CVS yet - I got mine from Discount DrugMart (and promptly got their annoying theme song from the commercials stuck in my head again).

There's 4 of each in the display.

 Nude Awakening:
On the left column, the crease color looks to be a warm matte brown - the rest all have some sort of shimmer

Going in the Wild:

The bottom right shade (definer) is, what I think, a unique color.  It's dark - maybe black - with green shimmer to it.

After I got done taking pictures, I held them up to the other 8-pan palettes I have from Wet 'n Wild (both core and limited edition) as well as the Downtown Browns I have from Black Radiance.  I didn't notice any that jumped out as repeat colors.  I haven't taken the time yet to compare these to the various trios or the discontinued 6-pans, but as far as I can tell and going on memory, these all look to be new shades.

If you see these in stores, I'd suggest snapping either one or both up since they are limited edition.  As with the other 8-pans from Wet 'n Wild, these are $4.99 each.  I can't wait to start playing around with these! I might even consider getting another of the Nude Awakening palette as a backup.

**EDIT - This mini collection has been re-released under the name Rhapsody in Bloom!  I spotted it at Rite Aid earlier this month (July)!!

And now that I have these in my possession, I came across this post from Project Swatch and now have 2 more in a different configuration to be on the lookout for at Walgreens.  It's never ending!  But so fun to hunt down!

Have you found either of these yet?  Does one draw your eye more than the other?  Let me know!

Can't Let Go (of my Liquid Sands)

Hi!

**all items purchased by me

Time for another nail post.  Today's polish of choice is OPI's Liquid Sand texture polish in Can't Let Go from the Mariah Carey collection.  This is actually the 2nd time I've worn it, but the first time I didn't manage to get pictures of it before messing it up cleaning something.  I'm loving how each of the Liquid Sands has their own look - different types, sizes and shapes of glitter.  I can't wait for the next installment of them to come out in a couple months or so!

On to the nails!  I don't remember if I used base coat under this since it was on the nails at the beginning of the month.  If I did, it was Bridge the Ridge.  Of course, no topcoat - but you could put it on if you want.  If you do choose to add topcoat to get rid of the texture, I'd suggest Gelous Advanced Nail Gel Coat.

2 coats of Can't Let Go.  These pictures are under my usual lamp:
Can't Let Go is a pretty medium purple polish with some shiny matching purple hex glitters sprinkled in.  The texture, while you feel it, I don't think it's enough to catch on anything in my experience.  The polish went on well with no need for fishing for the hex glitters.  Drying time is a bit slow, but since you don't use a quick drying top coat, that's to be expected.  I've gotten different wear times each time I've worn a Liquid Sand, but for me it always depends on how much kitchen chores need to be done...and I've always had problems with polish sticking well to me.

And believe it or not, sunlight (through the window) pictures!

Like I said earlier, I can't wait for the next batch of Liquid Sands to be released!  I bought 3 of the 4 from the Mariah Carey collection - the one with stars did not attract me - plus the one from the Oz collection and I plan on getting probably all of the Bond Girls collection (6) and then there's 3 more in the Fall collection coming... If I keep going at this rate, I'll have a whole drawer full of textured polishes. :-)

Did you get any of the Liquid Sand polishes?  How about the PixieDust ones from Zoya?

Clearance Sales Haul!

Hi!
**all items purchased by me

Time for another haul!  The stores that I went to had some good things in their respective clearance bins this time so I thought it would be a good time to get some products that I haven't tried before.  Why pay full price for something you're not sure about when you can try it for clearance prices?  This haul happened at the beginning of the month, but always check clearance spots - you never know what you may find.

So first off, I went to Rite Aid - no newly released products interested me there, but the clearance bin did.
Maybelline Dream Bouncy Bronzer in 80 Glistening Sun (2012 Summer Glow collection)
Essie nail polish in No More Film (2012 Resort collection)
Both on clearance!  I paid a little over $8 total after tax

I've decided to finally give the Dream Bounce blush/bronzer thing a try, but since I wasn't sure how much I would like it I went for a clearance item so it's not that much if I don't like it.

I went to another Rite Aid and almost the same story.  I saw the Maybelline limited edition collection (and thanks to Nouveau Cheap's blog review) I got my first Vivid.  And I found another polish on clearance.
Maybelline Vivids in 975 Pop of Cherry (Spring 2013 Color Goes Electric collection)
Essie nail polish in 416 Berry Naughty
The Essie was on clearance so I paid a bit over $10 total after tax.

As I mentioned toward the beginning of the post, this is my first Maybelline Vivid that I'll be trying.  Can't wait to see how it feels on and how long it lasts...mmm, as soon as my lip stops being chapped.

And I had to go to the grocery store, so I thought I'd be "smart" and not go to Walmart.  Guess what? There was a box with clearance makeup at the grocery store!
Maybelline the Falsies Flared mascara in 01 Very Black ($2)
Maybelline ColorSensational lipstick in 215 Totally Toffee ($1)
Maybelline Dream Bouncy blush in 10 Pink Frosting ($2)
L'Oreal Infallible shadow in 557 Glistening Garnet ($2)

Another Dream Bouncy product - even better price for just trying it out.  If I like them, I might get the coral looking shade at some point.  And I just had to get the Garnet Infallible at that price since I'm not sure how it will look on or if it will make my eyes look irritated.  I already know I really like the formula of the Infallibles.  I've also been wanting to try the Flared version of Maybelline Falsies so once I get through my current tube of mascara I might crack this one open - all though I really should use up some more older ones first...

I got 4 pieces of makeup for only an extra $7 on the grocery bill!  That's basically the cost of the L'Oreal Infallible (full-price) at Walmart.  I love how I can buy makeup there and the Mister not realize it since it doesn't show up on the statement as Rite Aid or Walgreens or CVS (which all 3 of those mean I've been beauty shopping) - this way it's sneaky. :-)

Do you ever buy makeup from the "real" grocery store?  Have any good clearance scores lately?

Zoya Yara with Elves Bells

Hi!
**all items purchased by me

I was trying to decide what I wanted to post today and decided on a nail look...even though I haven't had any polish on my nails for a couple of days.  This can help me miss my pretty nails less.  Scrubbing/deep cleaning the stove and other small kitchen appliances makes polishing the nails pointless.  I've got one more section to do, then it's back to actually doing my nails(!).

If I'd been on top of things last week, I would have had this particular nail look up then since it's a green and gold look.  But the pictures landed in the wrong folder on the computer and got misplaced for a bit.  So I'll share it now.  I really liked the way this mani came together and at the time I had it on I was really in the mood for a good olive/army green.  And I knew just the polish to get that!

So I did 2 coats of Zoya Yara over top of my usual Bridge the Ridge base coat.  I don't remember right now if I used a quick dry top coat, but I probably did - either Out the Door or China Glaze Fast Forward.
Yara is a gorgeous olive/army green with a fine aged golden shimmer running through that shows nicely in pretty much any lighting condition.  The formula was a bit on the thick side but still went on easily.
Then I added a coat of Finger Paints Elves Bells on the ring fingers and thumbs to complement the gold shimmer running through Yara.  I think I did add another layer of top coat over top of Elves Bells just to give a bit of protection.
Elves Bells is a tarnished gold fine glitter top coat with some medium sized holographic hex glitters thrown in for fun.  One coat was perfect for the look I wanted, but I think this would be able to be built up to opacity with 2 coats (maybe 3 if the coats are thin).  Elves Bells applied nicely with no need to dab on extra hex glitters.  Elves Bells is a limited edition polish that came out for the 2012 holiday release.

I loved the way that Elves Bells pulled the look together with the extra gold shimmers and sparkles enhancing Zoya Yara's fine aged gold shimmer.  I'd say these 2 polishes were made for each other (at least in my book).

Do you have enough variety of nail polish that no matter what color you are craving, you have at least one option?

New Way to Follow - Bloglovin'

Hi!

Just a quick, very brief post to announce that I've added a way to follow my blog via Bloglovin'.  I did this in light of the recent announcement of Google Reader going away in a couple months.  I'm sad...I'm on Google Reader - either the desktop or Android version - every day to stay up to date on all the dozens of blogs I follow.

For my personal use for staying up-to-date on blogs I'm subscribed to, I'm still looking for an option that will fully meet my needs.  That main need is to be supported on an Android-based platform for smart phones since I use Google Reader on my phone a lot right now, and as far as I can tell, Bloglovin' isn't supported on Android (just Apple products).

If you know of a service that is supported on Android platforms, please let me know!

Collective Haul - Early March!

Hi!

Today I've got a collective haul to share.  This all happened after I got my hair cut - judging by all the pictures, apparently I had a lot of fun finding quite a few things so let's get right to it!

My first stop was at TJ Maxx.  I had mentioned I was thinking about getting a mini straightener to my hair stylist and she suggesting seeing what I could find at TJ Maxx since she had seen some there before.  So that's where I went, and I found one!...and one other thing.
Ionika Professional Hair Styling Mini Styling Iron (and hair clip) - only $9.99!
Sephora by OPI polish in If You've Got it, Haunt It - my first Sephora by OPI polish

Then I went to the local beauty supply store...but I'm going to show that in it's own post so...

Moving on....I went to the Dollar Tree.  This particular one typically has a larger selection of just about everything than other locations.  This visit was quite pleasing since I found something that's been on my "wanted list" for quite a while and Dollar Tree's price is a whole lot better than drugstore and Walmart pricing.
L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Blush in
(top) W5-6 Subtle Sable
(bottom) W3-4 Barely Blushing
L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Blush in
(top) N3-4 Innocent Flush - this one has been on my list forever!
(bottom) C3-4 Tender Rose

I don't think these are full sized blushes, but I am perfectly fine with that.  Full size is about $8 and up - these were all $1....and I have only gone through a full size blush 2 times in my life time (and that was when I only had one at a time).

From the Dollar Tree, I went to Sally's Beauty Supply next looking for the latest limited edition collection from Orly.
 Peaceful Opposition and Elation Generation

These were the 2 polishes that caught my eye the most from the Spring 2013 Hope and Freedom collection and I found them on my first day looking.

From Sally's, I walked myself down the sidewalk a bit to go into Target to see what was on clearance or if anything new was out.
silicone pot gripper thing and
Sonia Kashuk kabuki brush on clearance for around $6 down from over $20(!)

This was just after that Sigma cleaning glove thingie came out so I wanted to see if I could find something similar in the kitchen aisle.  I found a pot gripper that could work...just haven't tried it yet.  The kabuki brush is nice and soft and larger than any other that I have.  I thought it would be nice for blending together blush and bronzer.

And of course, I had to finish my shopping trip off at Walmart where I got one necessary and a couple fun goodies.
Colgate Optic White Dual Action  Shines & Whitens toothpaste
Maybelline Master Drama by EyeStudio Limited Edition 300 Black Spark
Pure Ice polish in Sheer Luck
The Walmart I go to rarely, I mean rarely, ever has limited edition collections so while I passed on getting this liner at Walgreen's price, I did get it for Walmart's price.  And I spotted the polish in a random spot and when I noticed the purple and green diamonds, I thought that it might be one of the limited edition ones that came out a few months ago so I had to get it - it's not.  I also thought it would be perfect for St. Patrick's day...and I didn't do my nails at all.

That's most of what I got that day.  Like I said above, what I got from the local beauty supply will have it's own post soon.

Have you had any good hauls lately?  Have you gotten anything from the new collections from various brands?
