Project "Finish This Stuff, " part 16 - January '13

Hi!

I'm really going to try to keep up with my Project "Finish This Stuff" posts this year, so to get started right, I've got what I finished during January.  I've also got a few things that fall under the category of Trashed, But Not Finished - I was cleaning out and found some way-too-old to use things.  As usual, I'll include brief mini reviews of each item.  I've got lots of stuff to share, so let's get started!
Crest 3D White Advanced Vivid Enamel Renewal: My favorite toothpaste! Except for how hard it is to get out of the package when it gets low, I love everything about this.  But right now, I am feeling like I need to use more of a complete whitening system to get better results since I drink so much coffee and tea.  Will repurchase.
Johnson's softlotion 24 Hour Moisturizer (sample size bought on clearance):  I really liked this lotion.  If I didn't have so many other lotions, I would be getting this one.  I could use it after shaving my legs with no irritation and it left them feeling moisturized well into the next day.  May repurchase.
Heel Rescue Superior Moisturizing Foot Cream:  This tub lasts forever...seriously.  I had this when we lived in another state probably 5 years ago (I didn't use it continuously, though - it kept getting shoved to the back in favor of others).  I enjoyed this until it got low and I unscrewed the lid to get to more of the cream - then it started drying out and being really hard to rub in and be absorbed.  I do have another one of these waiting to be opened.  Probably won't repurchase when the new one runs out since I don't care much for the packaging.
Aveeno Living Color Shampoo and Conditioner sample packs:  I do like these - I even already had a bottle of each before I used the samples.  They are nice, I'm just not sure this is my favorite.  And the conditioner is super thick- I've got the bottle standing upside down to get it to come out easier and I've barely used it.  Since I used the shampoo with various other conditioners, I'm undecided on how these work as a pair.  I might get a new bottle of this shampoo to use while using the coordinating conditioner since I do prefer to use matching sets.  Beyond that, I'm not sure.
Dove Nourishing Oil Care Leave-In Smoothing Cream sample pack - had 3 uses in it:  I like this; I do feel like it helps with frizzy/fly away hair.  I have to be careful not to use to much or else my hair gets oily looking much quicker.  I've gone through 1/2 a bottle of this (that I had before this sample) in addition to the sample pack, and I have an unopened bottle.  I've got so much of this, that who knows if/when I'll ever need to repurchase; by that time, I might have found something I like better.
Origins Clear Improvement mask: (sample from Sephora)  This is probably the best mask I've ever used on my face and actually noticed results from - it unclogged blackheads in one use.  I am leaning towards purchasing this once I finish some others up.
Avon Anew clinical Deep Crease Concentrate (x4 sample packs):  nothing special.  Won't purchase
Tretin -X cream (older sample from dermatologist): only available via prescription - but I think my skin hated it.  While using this was when I noticed my skin drying out.  Nope.
T3 Foaming Cleanser (samples from dermatologist): nothing special.  It came packaged with something else from the dermatologist, so I think that it might be paired with a prescription.
Crystal Waters Spa Shower Gel in Pomegranate: bought from Dollar Tree.  Smells nasty (like flavored cough syrup), doesn't lather well.  At least the scent didn't stay on the skin after rinsing.  Do not recommend at all; won't repurchase.
Bath & Body Works Anti-bacterial deep cleansing hand soap in Paris Amour: love this scent and formula.  Will repurchase when my current supply runs out.

Neutrogena Shine Control makeup: (x6 foundation samples) I've already purchased the foundation in 10 Classic Ivory, but I feel that I could also wear 30 Buff (might get that shade for summer).  This foundation feels pretty light on the skin, but still covers well without looking cakey.  I do have to use the shine control primer underneath for better results.
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream: (sample in Light/Medium). The color was too dark but it did even out blotchiness (not hyperpigmentation, though).  This never felt like it set and it doesn't work well for oily/combination skin.  Won't purchase.
Hard Candy Ginormous Lash Volumizing Mascara: (sample that came in one of the sets)  Only got about 2 weeks of use out of this tube.  Didn't like it; it seemed like a very dry formula.  Don't recommend.
Wet 'n Wild ColorIcon eyeshadow single in 251A Brulee/Creme Brulee: love this eyeshadow!  This is the perfect shade to neutralize any discoloration on my eyelids; I used it nearly every day I put on makeup - even if I was skipping an eyeshadow "look."  This is so pigmented that a little goes a long way so well worth the $1.99 pricetag.  Already bought a new one.

And for the Trashed but Not Finished items - a.k.a. really old stuff:
Biore Pore Perfect Pore Minimizing Lightweight Moisturizer SPF 15: Not a high enough SPF and don't recall noticing any "pore minimizing." Won't repurchase.
AcneFree Oil-Free pH Balancing Moisturizer SPF 15: came in a set from Walmart.  Not moisturizing at all; not a high enough SPF. Won't repurchase.
Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture Sheer Tint SPF 15: ("inherited" from my mom) Too dark for fair skin, not a high enough SPF and it didn't agree well with my skin - it slightly irritated it.  Won't repurchase.
Revlon Illuminance Creme Shadow palette in 711 Black Magic: pretty colors in the pan, but on the lid the only 2 that show are the black and pink.  Once you blend out, it pretty much disappears. Creased very quickly  (I do have oily lids)- had to use primer under and set with powder shadow on top.  The lightest shades did not apply smoothly.  Don't recommend; won't repurchase.
Maybelline Eyestudio Creme Shadow trio in 104 Purple Radiance: once again, pretty in the pan but doesn't last at all on the lid (I do have oily lids).  Don't recommend (I'm not even sure these are made anymore - they may have been replaced by the Color Tattoos); won't repurchase.

So there you have what all I finished (or decided it was time to get rid of) during January.  Quite a lot for one month.  If you made it far, Yay!!  I have no more hair styling product samples.  And I believe that all of the skincare samples that have been around the longest are now gone.  But I've got the "fresher" samples to use, and I'm sure that I'll come across some more things that just need to be thrown out.

Looking back through my files, I started Project "Finish This Stuff" back around the end of May 2011 and have been going strong ever since.  It's amazing at how many products one person accumulates without even realizing it.  I can see that there are a few things from my original list that I've still managed to neglect (cough..bubble baths..cough, cough).  I've done well, but there's still more to get through.

Have you finished anything lately?  Anything that you would like to finish but keep neglecting?
