Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Hair Cream Review

Hi!

Today I'm going to review a new product!  I received this in my BeautyBlogger VoxBox from Influenster (in exchange for a review).  I've got a fair amount to say, so let's jump in!
Not Your Mother's Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream infused with grapeseed & jasmine
44 mL (1.5 fl. oz.)

When I first opened my box and saw Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream, I was a little disappointed since I don't have curly hair, and the natural wave has pretty much all either been cut out or relaxed out from coloring and styling out so much.  But then I read on the tube that this product "eliminates frizz and flyaways" so I figured that since I do tend to have frizzy and fly-away prone hair, I would give it a shot...and boy am I glad I did!

Now, the first time I used it, I just air dried my hair and ended up with a couple of curls, but mostly it was...big (which is usual for when I air-dry), so no big difference with that method.  My hair was fairly damp when I applied this product (I'll talk about that point later).

The second time I used it, I kept getting distracted and had left my hair up in my turbie twist for probably 4-5 hours so my hair was most of the way dry.  Kinky Moves didn't help very much that time, but I figure it was because I applied it on fairly dry hair.  My mistake...

Third time...YAY!!  Worked perfectly!  I took my hair out of the turbie twist and put it on my hair about 1 1/2 to 2 hours after my shower.  That was pretty much the perfect amount of time and leftover dampness/wetness for this to do it's magic.  I blow dried my hair and had no frizzies and minimal fly-aways (just the normal little baby hairs).

Each time I used it, even with less-than-stellar results from my own errors, my hair came out soft and shiny with nice movement to it.

For an idea of how much to use, for my hair (cut to about the hair line at the back of my neck with a little section longer), I used about 2 quarters worth of product - it does say to saturate hair with it.

Love the smell!  If you've ever used the Grape Seed Extract peel off masque by Queen Helene, it smells almost exactly like it!  If you haven't, well...it smells like grapes but with a kick to it due to the jasmine.  One packaging note I have is that I really liked the fact that the trial sized tube came with a little foil seal that had to be removed before anything would come out.  This is definitely a good thing since this product, while not runny, is not super thick either.  While scoping out the Smooth Moves tube in the store, I noticed that it didn't have that.

Here's some info from Influenster's product page:

It eliminates frizz and fly-aways to show your true locks. Infused with natural grapeseed & jasmine this salon formula will add that extra bounce to your step.

Price range ranges from $4.74 (at the Walmart I found the line at) up to $6 at CVS (that's out of my way so I didn't go in person to check the price).  Apparently, Not Your Mother's is also being carried at Rickys NYC, Urban Outfitters and (travel sizes at) Five Below (none of those stores are located anywhere near where I'm at that I know of).  If you want to, you can also investigate the line-up & do a little online shopping at Not Your Mothers website.

Final Thoughts:
While I can't attest to the "curl defining" aspect of Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream, I can say that I'm pretty much in love with it for controlling fly-aways and frizzies when I blow dry my hair.  My hair looks and feels so healthy (which is a challenge for colored/highlighted hair).  In fact, I keep petting my head just because I love the way it feels so much. :-)  This product has definitely earned it's spot at the front of the shelf for hair products.  ~~I've already suggested to my mom that she tries this out for herself since she does have natural curls and she's always looking for the perfect curl definer.~~

On a related note, there's a pretty decent selection, too.  Check out the picture I snapped of the Not Your Mother's line-up at Walmart:
I've got my eye on some of these other products...especially Smooth Moves :-)

Have you had any experience with the Not Your Mother's brand?  Any stand-out product(s) for you?  Let me know!
