Midnight Rain Check

Hi!  Today I have a combination that I thought of Sunday night when I was thinking of what to put on my nails for Memorial Day.  Unfortunately, it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped.  I decided that I would take some pictures since it wasn't horrible and then I took it off.  So I guess this is a "fail" for me.

Anyway, here's what I did:

  • 1 coat Pro FX Fiberized Ridge Filler base coat
  • 3 coats of Wet 'n Wild Wild Shine polish in Rain Check (except my ring fingers had 2 coats)
  • 1 coat of Love & Beauty (Forever 21) polish in Midnight on ring fingers
Wet 'n Wild's Rain Check is a gray-blue foil/metallic (I'm not sure what the difference is).  I had to be a little careful so I didn't get wobbly brush strokes in the finish.  It was also sheer.  On my ring finger is 2 coats, the rest 3.  I also experienced bubbling on most of my nails.  I'm not sure if this is because it's probably a pretty old bottle (I bought it at Goodwill for $.75 a year or more ago), or if it was user error.  I think if I hadn't gotten bubbles, I would have liked it better.  I'll try this one again at some point and see if it comes out better.

Love & Beauty polish in Midnight is a pretty bright/royal blue micro glitter/shimmer with small(ish) silver hex glitters in a clear base.  It dried fairly smoothly, but I'm not sure if over time a more gritty texture would have developed.  Very hard to capture accurately in pictures as the blue kept wanting to show up black.  I think this glitter polish is pretty...  I'm wondering how it would look over a more "blue" blue, silver, black or gray.  I almost ended up putting this one over the red that I used here, but instead went with one that had stars.

Wet 'n Wild Wild Shine in Rain Check is available pretty much where ever Wet 'n Wild is sold.
Love & Beauty / Forever 21 in Midnight is available here or you might be able to find it in the store.

What do you think of my "fail?"  What color do you think would look pretty under Midnight?
