My First High End Makeup Purchase

A couple of weeks ago, I ordered my very first high-end makeup product.  The Urban Decay Book of Shadows IV.  It was on sale (and still is) for $29 from Urban Decay's site, plus shipping and tax.  Shipping was fairly quick--about 4 days (might have been 3 days from the confirmation email) I think.  It was nice that included in the palette was 3 additional products besides the eyeshadows, as well as 2 other samples were included in the order. It arrived well wrapped with plastic around the cover box, wrapped in tissue, packed with air pockets, and all sandwiched between thick layers of tissue...super impressed with how safely it was packed.

Front and back of box:
Inside top of the box (with codes on a card for videos of looks)
Pulled-out palette with
24/7 Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion,
Supercurl Curling Mascara, and
Eyeshadow Primer Potion
(usb cable on far right, speaker keychain in top right corner)

Included additional samples of Complexion Primer Potions in Brightening and Pore Perfecting and Eyeshadow Primer Potion

I've used a few of the shadows so far and have liked the looks, as well as lasting power even without primer.  My main issue is, for example, on Midnight Rodeo, I ended up with glitters all over my cheeks.  Not quite the look I was going for and I couldn't get them off.  I have yet to try any of the samples that I received since I already have one primer (ELF) open as well as 2 mascaras and a liquid liner.

Do you have any suggestions on how to keep the glitter fall-out from sticking to the cheeks or prevent it from happening?
